Warzone Season 5 Reloaded might be last chance to play Rebirth Island

New leaks have reported that both Rebirth Island and Fortune's Keep are set to be completely removed from Warzone when Warzone 2 launches later this year

We know we’re all quietly excited about the fast-approaching Warzone 2 release date, but this could actually spell bad news for fans of Raven Software’s currently available battle royale shooter. According to established Call of Duty leaker ‘TheGhostOfHope’, the several smaller maps available in Warzone right now are set to be removed when Warzone 2 launches. Yeah, we know this doesn’t exactly help Warzone cement itself as one of the best battle royale games out there.

In a tweet shared on September 28, Hope reports that both Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep are set to be removed from the current iteration of Warzone “following the release of Warzone 2.0”, which is bad news for fans of Resurgence game modes. As it stands, with this information available, Caldera will be the only Warzone map available after Warzone 2 drops.

At the moment, we don’t know how true this claim is. Raven Software has not confirmed that this will be the case. So, it’s worth taking this information with a pinch or two of salt – even if this leaker has a decent track record of sharing accurate information.

If you’re sitting there wondering what this means for Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep going forwards, you’re not alone – and we’re just not sure yet. This does suggest that standard battle royale playlists and plunder modes will be the only ways to play the original Warzone come Warzone 2, which is certainly going to mean a lot of us will need to change our best Warzone loadouts if we’re planning to stay.

However, there is a school of thought that believes that this decision is going to be made to encourage players to ditch the original iteration of the battle royale and transition to Warzone 2 – which, as destructive as it sounds, makes sense. It’s also worth noting that there’s nothing to say that both Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep won’t appear on Warzone 2 at some point in the future. We’re sure Raven Software is keenly aware of just how popular Resurgence modes are – and how much the Warzone community loves Rebirth Island.

For now, though, we don’t know what’s going to happen for certain. If you want to find out more about the new Warzone 2 map, you can right here. We also have some information about the Warzone 2 Season 1 release date and content roadmap – which we’ll make sure we update with the latest information when it is available. Who knows, there might be hope for Rebirth Island yet.
