Call of Duty Warzone 2, a sequel to the popular FPS battle royale attached to the current Call of Duty title, is currently in development and there’s a lot of chatter about the Warzone 2 map and what fans can look forward to. Caldera is great, but it doesn’t quite live up to Verdansk – and the fans are hoping for a return to form when it comes to the quality of gameplay they can expect from a Call of Duty battle royale.

While we don’t have any official gameplay footage, the early reports on what players are going to be able to jump into later this year is exciting – and the Warzone 2 map is at the heart of it all. So, we’re going to go through everything you could possibly need to know about this new battlefield – just make sure you take some of it with a pinch of salt. Well, until we know more officially, anyway.

The Summer Game Fest is starting soon, so keep an eye out for more information – and on this guide. We’ll be updating the below with the latest information when it becomes available.

Warzone 2 map details – new POIs leaked

Ahead of confirmation, Tom Henderson has shared information on the upcoming POI locations coming to the Warzone 2 map. It’s worth taking this with a pinch of salt, but “sweeping from top left to bottom right”, here are all the Warzone 2 map POI locations:

  • Oasis
  • Wartorn
  • Quarry
  • Oilfield
  • Modern City
  • Caves
  • Dam
  • Marshes
  • Harbour
  • Sira
  • Observatory
  • Mountain Town
  • Graveyard
  • Oldtown
  • Shipwreck
  • Fishtown
  • Fort
  • Airport

Henderson suggests that the following POI locations will contain areas based on maps from the original Modern Warfare trilogy:

  • Quarry – area based on Quarry
  • Modern City – area based on Highrise
  • Caves – area based on Afghan
  • Mountain Town – area based on Favela
  • Airport – area based on Terminal

Take all this with a pinch of salt, but it’s sounding exciting for fans of the original Modern Warfare 2 release.

Warzone 2 map details – additional rumours

Henderson, a source of information for Warzone 2, has suggested that this will be only available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC – and it won’t feature any weapon integration with previous titles. If you’re hoping to carry over your other cosmetics – like operator skins – it doesn’t look good.

This would also suggest that it isn’t going to feature cross-progression – so, it’s going to be a fresh start for a lot of us looking to jump into the battle royale. Henderson has also claimed that Pro-level Perks, a bag system akin to PUBG’s inventory system, and an interrogation system will be coming to Warzone 2 alongside on-map AI and Armour Vests – a hybrid between Blackout’s armour system and Warzone’s current armour plates system – are going to be added.

As always, take the above with a rather large pinch of salt until we know more.

Warzone 2 map release date speculation

Following the Modern Warfare 2 reveal, it was announced that Warzone 2 will be coming later this year. The official Warzone 2 release date still has yet to be confirmed, but Infinity Ward confirmed that while the two games won’t release together, fans could look forward to the battle royale releasing this year.

Well, there it is – everything we know about the Warzone 2 map at the moment. It’s safe to say we’re excited, but will all of the above be true? Only time will tell.
