Fans of Call of Duty: Warzone fans are desperate to unlock the new CX-9 SMG. Why? Because early CX-9 Warzone loadouts are looking mighty strong, and also because it has been sitting on the sidelines of Warzone for months now. First seen way back in February 2021 during Season 2, a CX-9 blueprint variant called the Serac began accidentally dropping out of loot crates, along with another yet-to-be-released weapon, the RAAL LMG.
Since then, players have been anticipating the CX-9 to release at the start of every new Warzone season, and finally, right at the end of Season 4, it’s been let loose
The Season 4 Reloaded patch notes that a “long-awaited” weapon would soon be making its debut, and we know now that it was talking about the CX-9. We’re not sure whether the SMG is going to become one of the best Warzone guns just yet, but what we do know is that players will be scrambling to get their hands on it and max it out.
Here’s how to unlock the CX-9 in Warzone.
CX-9 Warzone release date
The CX-9 officially released in Warzone on August 3, 2021, right at the end of Season 4 of the Black Ops Cold War era.
CX-9 Warzone unlock
The CX-9 can be unlocked in Warzone by completing the following in-game challenge:

This unlock challenge can be completed in Warzone or in the multiplayer mode of the game it comes from, in this case Modern Warfare.
If you don’t want to grind the challenge, a CX-9 blueprint is also available in the store.
