Unlike some of the more straightforward methods in Season 1, the Warzone 2 M13B unlock method is a bit more complicated and unlike anything we saw in the original version of the battle royale.
Normally unlock challenges involve getting a certain number of kills with a certain type of weapon and being on your merry way, but not with the M13B, Warzone Season 1’s new assault rifle. To get this, you have to complete a tough challenge within the new DMZ mode, and that is the only way to obtain it without spending real cash in the store. So read on to find out exactly how to get your hands on the M13B and add it to your best Warzone 2 loadout.
How to unlock the M13B in Warzone 2 DMZ
To unlock the M13B in Warzone 2, you need to defeat an AI-controlled boss called The Chemist in the DMZ mode. As a match of DMZ progresses, a Radiation Zone (which will be a big yellow area on your map) will appear. Within this Radiation Zone will be The Chemist – a boss with a lot of health that is also guarded by some AI soldiers.
Once you find and eliminate The Chemist, he will then drop a pile of loot on the ground, which includes a variant of the M13B called Health Hazard. Pick this up, and then successfully extract out of the match with it still in your loadout or backpack and you’ll permanently unlock the weapon for use in all Warzone 2 and MW2 modes. Do note though that currently only the player holding the M13B when you extract will actually unlock the weapon – the rest of your teammates will not.
A quicker way to actually get this and allow your friends to get it is to grab a car and run over the Chemist. Once you kill him and grab his weapon extract right after. From there load into a new DMZ game and drop the gun for your friend. Next, immediately extract and they will get the gun.
Warzone 2 M13B store bundle
If you don’t want to unlock the M13B in DMZ, you will be able to simply buy a blueprint of the gun from the store in the near future. The exact bundle it’s in hasn’t hit the store yet, so keep checking in to see if the M13B variant appears.
If you don’t manage to buy it or unlock it in DMZ during Season 1, the M13B will also likely get a more simple unlock challenge in both Warzone 2 and MW2 once the season ends so that players that missed the opportunity can still access it.
