Call of Duty dev Treyarch will reportedly make future Warzone 2 map

We know Warzone 2 isn't even out yet, but Call of Duty leakers are already reporting that Treyarch is going to develop its' own map for the battle royale

We know the long-awaited Warzone 2 release date hasn’t quite arrived yet, but data miners and leakers are already hard at work trying to uncover every possible detail about what we’re getting with this battle royale and what’s in-store for its future. Following claims that Call of Duty Advanced Warfare is getting a 2025 sequel, one leaker has reported that Black Ops series developer Treyarch is going to be working on a new Warzone 2 map scheduled for a 2024 release.

Known Call of Duty leaker ‘TheGhostOfHope’ is behind this revelation, stating that “Treyarch will be leading map design for a new Warzone 2 map set to release alongside their premium release in 2024” – also adding that “support studios will help with asset creation and placement”.

While this isn’t the most surprising information when you consider the fact that Warzone’s map changed from Verdansk to Verdansk ‘84 when Black Ops Cold War dropped, and then again to Caldera when Vanguard dropped, it’s somewhat exciting to learn that we could be getting a Warzone 2 map much more closely related to the next Treyarch-led Call of Duty title.

That isn’t to say Verdansk ‘84 was a bad map, but we can all agree that it was more-or-less the same battle royale map as Verdansk. The prospect of a completely different Treyarch-designed map is an exciting one, although we haven’t really had a chance to explore Al Mazrah just yet.

Interestingly, Warzone 2’s battle royale map Al Mazrah is going to be bigger than anything we’ve seen in Warzone before – and we have the latest on all the Warzone 2 map details for you here. From what we saw in ground war modes during the Modern Warfare 2 beta, this map is going to rival Verdansk when it comes to its excellent balance of close-quarters combat and long sightlines. We could be in for a treat, here.
