Latest Warzone 2 map leaks suggest fewer major POIs than before

It looks like the Warzone 2 map could have fewer major POIs than first thought, however there's little official information about this upcoming battle royale

Call of Duty Warzone players are desperate for more information on Warzone 2, the next iteration of the popular battle royale game, and each leak is – usually – an exciting one. However, one recent leak that’s appeared online suggests that the Warzone 2 map is actually going to have fewer major POIs than first thought.

TheEternalGazed‘, something of an unknown in the leaker community, shared an imgur image on Reddit showing what appears to be an updated list of Warzone 2 map POIs. Almost all of the names on this list will be familiar with those clued up on the latest Warzone 2 map details – however, the interesting thing is that there are quite a few less on this list than what we’ve seen in the past.

Of course, it’s worth taking all of this with a pinch of salt as TheEternalGazed hasn’t actually said a lot about their source – beyond the imgur image link, anyway. However, this could mean that the Warzone 2 map is going to have quite a few fewer major POIs than first thought.

As you can see in the image below, the following names are listed as Warzone 2 map POIs: Oilfield, War-Torn, Sira, Observatory, Marshland, Old Fort, Modern City, Fort, Caves, Oasis, Mountain Town, Quarry, Hydro.

This list of names appears to be data mined from somewhere where splash text for each POI has been found. From what we understand, this could be a reference to the disappearing text that can be seen as you dive into a battle royale game – or, it could be something that appears on-screen when you move between POIs.

Either way, what’s important is that there are a few new POI names in this list – namely, Old Fort, Hydro, and Marshland (which was referred to as Marshes in previous leaks). As mentioned above, there’s almost no official information to help us confirm or deny any of these leaks at the moment – so, take them all with a pinch of salt.

However, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t an interesting development that could hint at a number of changes to the previously-leaked Warzone 2 map layout. While we’re still expecting there’s some truth to the fact that the Warzone 2 map will reportedly have POIs based on classic MW2 maps, these layouts could be a little different to what we remember.

The Warzone 2 release date is still quite a ways away yet, so we can’t imagine we’ll learn anything too concrete for a while yet. That being said, we do know quite a lot about the next main Call of Duty game following the reveal of the Modern Warfare 2 release date – so, hopefully more information will arrive soon.
