Call of Duty Vanguard is no longer supported with additional content or significant updates, and players have largely moved on to more recent releases. Nevertheless, Vanguard’s multiplayer is still available and this loadout is usable.

Call of Duty Vanguard had its fair share of shotguns, especially accounting for post-launch additions. The Combat Shotgun, however, was one of the strongest – and one of the best Vanguard guns out there.

Although it wasn’t as prolific in point-blank fights as some of its fellow classmates, the Combat Shotgun boasted among the best performances at range. The most disgusting thing about the best Vanguard Combat Shotgun class is that you didn’t even need to aim down sights to obliterate targets on small and medium-sized maps, making you hard to pin down.

The best Vanguard Combat Shotgun build was:

  • Muzzle: M97 Full Choke
  • Barrel: Sawed-Off
  • Optic: None
  • Stock: CGC 3M Adjustable
  • Underbarrel: SMLE Pistol Grip
  • Magazine: 16 Gauge 10 Round Drum
  • Ammo Type: Packed Powder
  • Rear Grip: Fabric Grip
  • Proficiency: Vital
  • Kit: Quick

This Vanguard Combat Shotgun loadout was extremely overpowered. Completely disregarding accuracy, this build was all about hip fire. With the combination of the Sawed-Off barrel and the M97 Full Choke muzzle, this build had just the right pellet spread to ensure you didn’t have to be completely accurate to bag the kill, maximizing damage.

The CGC 3M Adjustable stock provided a solid +2 bonus to hip fire accuracy, while also bumping up sprint-to-fire-speed and the SMLE Pistol Grip provided bonuses to both of these stats as well. The final attachment you wanted to slap on the Combat Shotgun to up that sprint-to-fire speed was the Fabric Rear Grip, which also helped reduce some of the recoil when hip firing.

The go-to magazine for the best Vanguard Combat Shotgun class was the 16 Gauge 10 Round Drum, which ensured you had plenty of shells in your magazine. After all, this shotgun was all about filling your target with lead. As for what you wanted to be loaded into that drum mag, Packed Powder was the best ammo type as it pumped up the Combat Shotgun’s effective damage range.

Vital was the best proficiency option to take to increase the chance that your broad-sweeping pellets would critically strike your target, while the Quick kit option was pretty self-explanatory – gotta go fast. Combined, you could dish out damage without having to slow down – making it a challenge for enemies to stop you.

This Vanguard Combat Shotgun class was an absolute beast and a lot of fun to use in multiplayer, particularly on the small maps where it was effectively always within range. However, if you didn’t find it to your liking, and fancied something that goes brrrr at close-to-mid range, then the Vanguard MP40 loadout would have been more your style.
