Call of Duty could meet Fallout in wild MW3 Season 4 crossover

Call of Duty MW3 Season 4 is also set to link up with Gundam and The Crow on PS5 and Xbox, bringing more major collabs to the FPS game.

Call of Duty MW3 Fallout Season 4: a man in a skull mask next to a hulking armored person

The Fallout TV show has been a rip-roaring success for developer Bethesda, and by extension big boss Xbox. The iconic IP could now be getting another major boost as Call of Duty dataminers have found files indicating a possible crossover coming with MW3 Season 4. Gundam – hell yeah, mechs – as well as the upcoming reboot of The Crow film series will also reportedly be accompanying the post-apocalyptic property in Modern Warfare 3 next season.

As shared by ‘COD Warfare’ on Twitter, dataminers have been hard at work tearing the Call of Duty MW3 Season 3 Reloaded update files apart for new details – and what a haul they’ve found in the FPS game. References to ‘s4_fieldrep_gundam,’ ‘s4_fieldrep_fallout,’ and ‘s4_fieldrep_the_crow’ are all clearly listed in the directory, and that’s more than enough to get our tails wagging.

Considering how far in advance these crossovers are locked in, we wouldn’t be surprised if Microsoft and Bethesda planned to piggyback on the release of the Fallout show with the new collab. Before the ActiBlizz takeover, we’d have perhaps been left scratching our heads, but seeing as the company now owns both publishers it makes perfect sense that it’s starting to leverage its star power.

Though we don’t know how big these datamined crossovers will be, we’re anticipating the usual suite which incorporates a reward-yielding week-long event across MW3 and Warzone, alongside purchasable Operator bundles. For Fallout, we can imagine the likes of Lucy, Maximus, and The Ghoul are in the running to get the nod. Sledgehammer could also full-send it on the weird and wonderful, offering up a Pip-Boy skin in the multiplayer game instead.

While Bethesda looks into ways to get Fallout 5 to players faster, crossovers like this potential one with Call of Duty can help it ride the current wave of popularity that the Amazon series has created in the meantime. However, as mentioned, there might be even more collab chaos in COD Season 4.

Gundam is where things can get really spicy. The thought of giant mechs cutting about the battlefield sounds too good to be true – it’s something that would undoubtedly require its own specific mode (and probably way too much work to be tenable), but we can dream. More likely, we’ll see a Juggernaut kill streak skin drop akin to what we got in the recent Warhammer 40K event, allowing us to live out our big mech fantasy on a smaller scale.

It’s been 30 years since the first film adaptation of The Crow comic series landed, and now in 2024 Pennywise actor Bill Skarsgård is leading the lineup of a brand-new reboot. With a late August release date marked on the calendar, we’re expecting this to be the last collaboration to drop towards the back end of July.

Between this exciting discovery and the news that Black Ops 6 may be revealed this month, ahead of June’s big Xbox Games Showcase, we are absolutely feasting right now when it comes to CoD.
