So, do you remember when those Modern Warfare 2 leaks suggested that some classic Call of Duty maps were returning as paid DLC in 2023? Well, that’s very much still the case – however, it’s starting to look like Infinity Ward is also going to release some Modern Warfare 2 campaign DLC alongside it. We know, that’s not something Call of Duty fans have seen before – and it’s quite exciting.

Ahead of Modern Warfare 2’s release date, and any official announcements on the future content updates coming to Infinity Ward’s shooter, known Call of Duty leaker ‘TheGhostOfHope’ has reported that some sort of “campaign DLC [is] to be released in late 2023”.

In addition to this, while they have not shed any light on what this Modern Warfare 2 campaign DLC could contain, they have suggested that it will be bundled with the aforementioned paid map pack DLC. With this release having a two-year life cycle, this could be a way for Activision to make up for the income it would lose by not releasing a premium title next year.

What’s interesting about all this is that the rumoured paid map pack is set to feature a selection of fan-favourite maps from old Call of Duty titles developed by Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games. If the rumoured campaign DLC is being bundled with it, could that mean we get additional story missions inspired by some fan-favourite moments from the older Modern Warfare series games and beyond?

This is, of course, some light speculation – while we wait to find out more. Although, we’re confident that a lot of Call of Duty fans would love to see classic campaign missions like Modern Warfare’s All Ghillied Up and Mile High Club, Modern Warfare 2’s Cliffhanger and The Hornet’s Nest, and Modern Warfare 3’s Blood Brothers and Dust to Dust remastered in 2022’s Modern Warfare 2.

And, if it’s more like what we get a glimpse of in the trailer below? Well, that wouldn’t be so bad at all.
