The best PS5 wireless headsets are cheaper and better than ever but which ones should you grab for your PS5 gaming sessions? Well, there are a lot of choices out there. But, we have highlighted some key headsets that are our definitive choices as the best to use – whether you are looking for something on the lower end of the price spectrum, something premium, or with a few extra features like a charging stand.
The PlayStation 5 is one of the best gaming consoles, so once you have your new console you’ll want one of the top headsets to ensure you’re using it to its full potential. These headsets will also allow you to utilize the 3D Audio capabilities the PS5 has built into it. Plus, pairing one of these headsets with one of the best PS5 accessories or best PS5 controllers will be a boon for your gaming experience. We considered all this, and more when deciding what to include in this list.
The best PS5 wireless headsets are:
- Sony Pulse 3D Wireless Headset – best for PS5
- SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless – best high-end choice
- Steelseries Arctis 7P+ – best middle-ground choice
- Corsair HS65 Wireless – best cheap headset
- Astro A50 Headset – best with a charging base
- Razer Barracuda – best all-rounder
- Audeze Maxwell – best headset for audiophiles
1. Sony Pulse 3D Wireless Headset
The best wireless headset designed specifically for the PS5 console.
Sony PS5 Pulse 3D wireless headset specs:
Drivers | 40mm |
Frequency range | 4Hz – 40kHz |
Weight | 521.6g |
Wired or wireless | Wireless |
Battery life | Up to 13 hours |
Pros
- Comfortable headband
- Integrated noise-cancelling microphones
- Crystal clear 3D audio
- Built with the PS5 in mind
Cons
- Not much sound customization
- Poor battery life
- The microphone isn’t great
Sony’s official PS5 headset is our go-to choice for the PS5. It’s one of the cheaper options on this list when it comes to wireless options and shares the same color scheme and look of the rest of the PS5 accessories and the console itself. As it launched back in 2020 alongside the PS5, the headset was designed specifically for the console, so you can expect a crisp and clear 3D audio experience.
Additionally, you won’t have to worry about any comfort issues with this headset as it has fantastic, soft, large ear cups and a comfortable build. There is no pressure on your head and the form factor is sleek, minimalistic, and able to fit in with any setup or living room.
Unfortunately, the built-in microphone isn’t particularly great and you can tell this headset was made with single-player or story-based experiences in mind. If you are going to be playing some multiplayer games, buying a separate microphone or another headset on this list is probably a better choice.
You will also have to deal with a relatively short battery life, much like the DualSense itself. But, the build quality, audio experience, and price make it a fantastic choice for anyone looking to enhance their audio experience on PS5 without breaking the bank.
2. SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless
The best high-end headset for PS5, with great sound and a comfortable fit.
Drivers | 40mm |
Frequency range | 10-40kHz |
Weight | 339g |
Wired or wireless | Wireless |
Battery life | Up to 20 hours |
Pros
- Premium build
- Exceptional audio quality
- Retractable microphone
- Comfortable
Cons
- Extremely high price-point
The SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is our premium, high-quality wireless headset of choice for your PS5. With 40mm neodymium drivers and a great 10-22kHz frequency band in wireless (upped to 44kHz when used wired), the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless provides a rich sound that is unmatched on this list and worthy of its price tag.
From the loud explosions and gunfire in one of the best multiplayer games or intense character moments in the best RPG games, you can expect one of the best audio experiences possible with this headset. Additionally, the sound profile can be tweaked with individual EQ settings and bass and treble options which are easy to control.
Additionally, the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is comfortable for long gaming sessions with a balanced build that doesn’t put too much pressure on your head. It isn’t the lightest headset due to the technology inside, but it is comfortable. The battery life isn’t extremely long but you can still easily get a day’s worth of gaming out of it. You also get a second battery pack in the box, allowing you to charge one while using it.
3. SteelSeries Arctis 7P+
A solid, medium-price headset from a reputable name.
SteelSeries Arctis 7P+ specs:
Drivers | 40mm custom neodymium |
Frequency range | 20Hz – 20kHz |
Weight | 771.1g |
Wired or wireless | Wireless |
Battery life | up to 30 hours |
Pros
- Long battery life
- Great sound options
- Comfortable fit
Cons
- Noise-cancelling isn’t fantastic
The second SteelSeries option on this list, the Arctis 7P+ is a great cheaper option compared to the Nova Pro Wireless. SteelSeries has long been known for its premium headsets and gaming peripherals but this one is a little bit more affordable than many of its higher-end offerings.
One plus with this headset compared to some of the other lower-priced ones on this list is that there are a vast variety of audio customization options for you to tune your experience to each game you play. Whether you want something that enhances the bass or treble, or a more balanced experience, this headset has the options for you. However, its natural noise-canceling ability isn’t as strong as other headsets on this list.
But if you want a headset that is a little bit more affordable, and comfortable to wear then this is one of the best options on the market. Plus, it does have the longest battery life of any headset on this list.
4. Corsair HS65 Wireless
The best cheap wireless PS5 headset.
Corsair HS65 Wireless specs:
Drivers | 50mm |
Frequency range | 20Hz – 20 kHz |
Weight | 272.2g |
Wired or Wireless | Wireless |
Battery life | Up to 24 hours |
Pros
- Decent price
- Comfortable to wear
- Solid battery life
Cons
- Fairly regular connection drops
- Choppy microphone
The HS65 is a good example of a cheaper wireless headset from a name other than SteelSeries. It has the two core features you want: good sound and comfort. So, you won’t have any problems in either of these areas. It also boasts a respectable battery life of up to 24 hours.
Its microphone is generally pretty good (easy to mute as you play), but you don’t have many options and we did find the headset’s microphone to be choppy quite consistently especially when online. So, if you are looking at grabbing this headset, it isn’t the best for multiplayer games and the SteelSeries offerings are better.
We did have some annoying connection problems using this headset though. Any time we connected it to a new device, it would drop the connection, which was irritating. But, reconnecting the headset would fix any issues, so it isn’t a persistent problem all the time. But, this headset would be better without it. However, it is still a solid cheap option if the Pulse 3D Headset doesn’t suit you.

5. Astro A50 Headset
The best wireless headset with a charging base.
Astro A50 headset specs:
Drivers | 40mm |
Frequency range | 20Hz – 20kHz |
Weight | 675g (including base) |
Wired or wireless | Wireless |
Battery life | up to 15 hours |
Pros
- Brilliant charging base
- Looks stylish, feels comfortable
Cons
- The microphone is a bit quiet
- An expensive option for what you get
- Low battery life
The Astro A50 headset has long been one of the priciest and most well-known headsets for gaming. And, while that is still the case, competition from SteelSeries, Turtlebeach, Corsair (and even Sony themselves) has meant that it is no longer the go-to premium option.
Build-wise you are still getting a premium, top-of-the-line headset with optional ear cushions and a synthetic leather headband. Plus, when it comes to sound you have the Astro Command Centre for sound mixing, which gives you the option to save configurations for different games and uses with every sound input and output tailored for who you are playing with.
Dolby Audio support also gives you crisp surround sound that is not tinny and captures the true immersive ability PS5 games offer.
However, it is still a pricey option and you aren’t getting a long battery life here, clocking in at around 15 hours, surpassing the other premium options in this guide. While it does everything it should do (and very well too), the build quality could be better for something that costs as much as it does and the headset hasn’t seen any major design shifts in years.
As such, it still is a solid premium offering, but the name and brand aren’t enough to have it outpace offerings from Sony, Corsair, and SteelSeries on this list.
6. Razer Barracuda
The best all-rounder wireless headset to use with your PS5 and other devices is the Razer Barracuda.
Razer Barracuda specs:
Drivers | 50mm |
Frequency range | 20Hz – 20kHz |
Weight | 300g |
Wired or wireless | Wireless |
Battery life | Up to 40 hours |
Pros
- Good quality for a mid-range product
- Great battery life
- Connects to PS5, phone, PC, and more
Cons
- Tempermental microphone
When it comes to almost any kind of gaming peripheral, you can rarely go wrong with Razer, and it’s no different when it comes to getting a new wireless headset for your PS5. The Razer Barracuda is the mid-range option in this line of headsets (there’s the cheaper Barracuda X or the top-end Barracuda Pro). Still, we think this model strikes the best balance between having the features and quality you need and affordability.
The main reason it’s on this list though is that it’s a great all-rounder that can work seamlessly with not only your PS5 but your phone, PC, or other consoles too. As we found in our Razer Barracuda review, you’re able to connect it to multiple devices at once – one via Bluetooth, the other via a USB-C dongle. Razer’s SmartSwitch tech lets you flick between audio outputs and inputs for these two connected devices effortlessly. However, as we noted when we tested the Barracuda, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.
While audio coming through the earcups rarely has any issues and is of high quality, the same can’t be said for your own voice through the Barracuda’s mic and wireless connections. We found that in some scenarios – including when following Razer’s advice to use the Barracuda’s USB-A to USB-C adapter with the PS5 – your voice could sound robotic or drop in and out. However, we did find that things improved if you didn’t use the adapter and plug the dongle straight into the PS5’s USB-C port.
Other plus points to note is that the Barracuda looks sleek and stylish, and can come in black, mercury (silver-y white), or quartz (pink). It also has a very generous battery life of up to 40 hours on a full charge, which smashes even the more expensive options on this list out of the water. If you’ve got the cash to spend, you could splurge on the Pro version, but for the majority of people, the middle-of-the-road Barracuda is an excellent choice.
7. Audeze Maxwell
The best PS5 wireless headset designed for audiophiles.
Audeze Maxwell specs:
Drivers | 90mm |
Frequency range | 10Hz – 50kHz |
Weight | 490g |
Wired or wireless | Wireless |
Battery life | Up to 80 hours |
Pros
- Brilliant battery life
- Solid drivers and frequency range
- Great build quality
Cons
- Expensive
- High-quality audio may not matter to most
- Hefty weight
If you find yourself to be the audiophile of your friend group, then the Audeze Maxwell may be the best option for your long gaming sessions. Not only does this device offer 90mm planar-magnetic drivers which allow for a deeper bass extension, but they also last up to 80 hours on a single charge, meaning that you won’t need to keep charging them up often.
Of course, that comes at a price – a pretty expensive one, alongside the fact that it is one of the heaviest options on our list coming in at 490g. That being said, the aforementioned planar-magnetic drivers offer an incredible soundstage compared to standard dynamic drivers, giving you an immersive experience both in single-player titles and multiplayer games.
This is not for everyone. The standard player may not hear much difference between an audiophile-specialized headset and a standard one. But for those who want the best of the best audio quality, then you should pick up an Audeze Maxwell ASAP. And, if you own a PC, this headset can connect to it too.
Can you use any wireless headset with PS5?
No, you can only use wireless headsets that come with a Bluetooth USB adapter. The console only uses its Bluetooth 5.1 connection between itself and the DualSense controller. It cannot be used for any headsets, so you need a separate USB Bluetooth connection which is included with the headsets in this list or other headphones.
Why should you buy a wireless headset over a wired headset?
The core benefit of a wireless headset, as you would expect, is the fact it can be used without being connected to your PS5. This means you can get up from your TV or monitor and still listen to the music you may have played, conversations with friends, or just the background music that is playing whilst your game is paused.
Should you buy a headset for PS5?
Absolutely, a headset can help drown out background noise if you live in a busy house and offer a richer, crisper sound experience than your basic TV speakers.
