Assassin’s Creed Shadows release date leaks alongside new RPG details

The Assassin’s Creed Shadows release date leak is flanked by a new report detailing pre-order goodies, Season Pass pricing, and more on PS5 and Xbox.

Assassin’s Creed Red’s true identity has finally emerged from the Shadows. Yes, the capitalization is intended as Ubisoft has unveiled that the world premiere trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows will take place on Wednesday, May 15 at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm BST. However, it looks like the publisher has let slip a little bit too much about the PS5 and Xbox game by seemingly revealing that the Assassin’s Creed Shadows release date will arrive in November.

As spotted by ‘Andreix01’ on Twitter, the description box on the trailer’s YouTube page states that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch on Friday, November 15, 2024. Though I can’t personally verify this seeing as Ubisoft has seemingly cleansed its sins since by removing the goof from the page, this screenshot of the same page from ‘y_conlia’ on Reddit corroborates the RPG game’s release date.

November also makes sense seeing as Ubi traditionally targets the run-up to the holidays for its AC releases. One of last year’s best games in Mirage launched in October, while one of the best open-world games in Valhalla arrived in November 2020.

Back in January, I reported on a leak from Ubisoft Partner ‘Bunny’ which also suggested that November is the golden month for Shadows. Interestingly, Bunny’s source also got the May world premiere trailer call right, so we just need the Ubisoft Forward gameplay showcase to materialize on Monday, June 10, for them to go three-for-three.

While Ubisoft has done a good job of leaking its own game’s release date – it’s never done that before (cough, Star Wars Outlaws, cough) – the leaks don’t stop there. Alongside the release date info spotted by ‘Andreix01’ and ‘y_conlia’, Rainbow 6 dataminer ‘fraxR6’ has potentially revealed details surrounding Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Season Pass, Ultimate Edition, and a premium currency known as ‘Helix.’

According to the fraxR6, Shadows will have two separate expansions, priced at $25/£25 each. Alternatively, a Season Pass collating them can be nabbed for $40/£40. Additionally, the pass will reportedly grant access to a questline called “Origami Killer” – death by 1,000 paper cuts, it is. The pre-order bonus is called “Thrown to the Dogs,” which sounds like another quest. On top of this, the leaker also suggests that it could instead involve items.

As for the premium currency, Helix will be available to purchase in various quantities. Though it’s unknown what we’ll actually be able to buy with it, I can imagine it’ll mostly be cosmetic. Shadows will be the first new Assassin’s Creed to launch within AC Infinity – the series’ new hub service – so I’d expect transactions to take place through there.
