Apex Legends’ TDM should adopt this common League of Legends feature

Apex Legends' Team Deathmatch mode has something of a quitter problem, however Respawn could save this mode by adopting one key League of Legends feature.

Apex Legends‘ Revelry update has improved Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale shooter immensely, however, this FPS’ new Team Deathmatch mode is still suffering from a quitting problem – despite the fact that Apex Legends’ Team Deathmatch got a speedy and vital update just days after it was released. This quitting problem isn’t just a pain in the Ash, though – it’s actually ruining the mode for quite a few of you. However, Riot Games’ MOBA League of Legends could just hold the solution – or one solution to this problem. All Apex Legends needs to do is introduce a ‘Vote to Surrender’ system.

Now, we know what you’re thinking – and we whole-heartedly agree. No one wants to surrender in Apex Legends, or any game for that matter. But, voting to end the game early is surely an improvement on spending the remainder of a match battling against an opposing team with twice as many members.

Well, we know it can be easier to overturn a handicap and win in Apex Legends compared to League of Legends, and there are often leaving penalties applied in LoL. but it’s really all about numbers. Whether you’re playing one of the best competitive FPS games out there or not, you’re going to have a tough time of things if you’re a player down on your team.

There is, of course, also the argument that TDM in Apex Legends is just a casual mode, so is winning your games really that important? Players in this Reddit thread seem to think otherwise.

But… Okay, alright: winning is always important; but, we still feel as though Respawn Entertainment has to solve this issue sooner rather than later if Team Deathmatch is really going to take off. We don’t want another Arenas, do we?

So, while we know Apex Legends’ Team Deathmatch still needs this key feature, it also could do with a ‘Vote to Surrender’ feature. There aren’t any Apex Legends ranks tied to Team Deathmatch – and we don’t think there ever will be – but leaving a mode plagued by leavers isn’t going to solve anything.

If you’re not too fussed about TDM, given the leaving problem it’s still suffering from, you might be interested to learn that Apex Legends’ Season 16 pick rates show a shocking Pathfinder-led meta is already emerging. Not only this, but it’s been all-change in our Apex Legends tier list. This is one of the best battle royale games out there, and maybe it could be a decent TDM game too when it irons out these issues and discourages players’ urges to quit when they’re not ahead.
