The upcoming Apex Legends Revelry update is going to be a big one for fans of Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale shooter. Not only is the Apex Legends Ranked map rotation getting a refresher, but Apex Legends’ classes are being improved. If you’re worried about the infamous scan meta, going into Season 16, you’ll also be pleased to know that Apex Legends’ latest update is going to hit Seer hard with a nerf that should deal with that.
Discussing the changes being introduced to Seer through Apex Legends’ Season 16 update at a top level during a pre-release preview event, Apex Legends’ lead legend designer Devan McGuire revealed that Respawn Entertainment is essentially “reducing the frequency of his ultimate by hitting the cooldown and duration pretty hard”.
However, the Season 16 update is also going to introduce some limiting changes to Seer’s Heart Seeker passive – which is effectively an improved version of a Call of Duty game’s Heartbeat Sensor, when you consider how it operates at the moment. The first, and arguably most important change being introduced is that, going forwards “you will no longer be able to spam its activation”, as explained by McGuire.
That isn’t all, though. McGuire has also revealed that “you will only gain information on the heartbeat pulses themselves” – which should provide Seer players with a little bit more of a challenge when it comes to acting on that information. Oh, “and the heartbeat sensor is now audible to nearby enemies”. We know this might feel like it’s just adding more risk to Seer players, but you can use that to your advantage – set up a trap, if you will. However, it’s also adding a layer of strategy to the passive ability; you need to make sure you’re prepared to fight when you decide to use it.
At the moment, the specifics of these changes are still up in the air; you’ll need to check out the latest set of Apex Legends patch notes if you want those. However, it’s clear to see that this is going to have a huge impact on Seer’s position in our Apex Legends tier list and should improve the scan meta situation.
However, there’s an argument to be made that Apex Legends’ Season 16 update will actually make the scan meta worse – especially when you consider the new Recon class perk. This is going to give all Recon-class legends, Seer included, a UAV-like scan – every now and then, anyway.
However, only time will tell how impactful all these changes really are. Apex Legends’ new Nemesis AR will certainly shake up the battle royale’s weapon meta and Apex Legends is sunsetting Arenas to add a highly requested feature – so, there’s still going to be a lot to look forward to if you’re a Seer fan. It’s also worth noting that there’s a Mirage buff in Apex Legends’ Season 16 update – at last. So, maybe it’s time for you to try out a new main.
