Apex Legends Post Malone skins could start off Fortnite style trend

Apex Legends fan and award-winning artist Post Malone is collaborating with Respawn, and these new skins could copy this Fortnite idea.

Apex Legends has some of the best skins out there, ranging from outright awesome to more weird creations. There is something for everyone, and it probably won’t surprise you that long-time fan Post Malone is finally leaving his mark on the game. Developer Respawn Entertainment is collaborating with the award-winning artist on a series of Apex Legends skins, but it looks like they could be the start of a Fortnite-inspired tier going forward.

Following the reveal of the Apex Legends x Post Malone event, skins for legends such as Lifeline, Octane, Wrath, and Horizon appeared in the wild courtesy of known leaker ‘HYPERMYST’. These skins could introduce a new tier within the Apex Legends pantheon, as early leaks indicate their placement above Legendary within the game’s menus. You can see what that looks like for yourself via ‘RelevantOriginalv34’ over on the ApexUncovered subreddit below.

Notably, the Apex Legends x Post Malone collaboration doesn’t feature Malone’s likeness directly, opting to take influence from the artist’s on-stage aesthetic instead. It is somewhat of a shame that Malone’s visage isn’t directly reflected in one of the best multiplayer games around, but it is a promising start to see where Respawn takes these kinds of crossovers in the future.

This tier sports a green highlight, but it isn’t reflected across the collaboration, as the Post Malone weapon skins fall back into Legendary tier rather than this new placement. Could Respawn be looking to replicate the success of the Fortnite ICONS series? Potentially, and moments like the Apex Legends Season 19 release date are a great place to get started.

Fortnite often brings players new collaborations with celebrities to the game, whether that is through special events or limited-time skin bundles. Many of them are contributions to the aforementioned ICONS series, which includes skins for high profile stars like Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson, Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, Alastair ‘Ali-A’ Aiken, Bruno Mars, and Harry Kane.

It is an eclectic bunch of celebrities within the ICONS series roster, and it appears that Respawn could be eager to get a slice of the action that Epic Games has enjoyed for so long. Alongside the confirmation of these new skins, the leaker also provides information of fresh playlists heading to one of the best FPS games you dive into right now. This includes Three Strikes, a battle royale mode that plays similar to the Resurgence playlist found in Call of Duty Warzone.
