Following the Apex Legends leak hinting at more free emotes for the battle royale, trusted Apex Legends leaker ‘KralRindo’ is back again with another interesting discovery from the shooter’s files. This time around, they have stumbled upon an unreleased weapon model – which was added to the game’s files during the Beast of Prey collection event update. While we don’t know too much about this new weapon, we do know that it’s a heavy rocket launcher – something we haven’t seen in-game before.
In a short YouTube video, which you will be able to see for yourself below, KralRindo can be seen showing off the unreleased rocket launcher – named Archer – in-game with Lifeline. Its militaristic design is almost outdated compared to other IMC weapons we see in-game, suggesting it’s older technology than other armaments available right now.
Interestingly, it also features a flip-out built-in holographic sight, which might suggest that this is a weapon without any attachment slots. If you’re a Titanfall veteran, you’ll know this gun very well – it’s one of best Anti-Titan weapons available.
However, that is all speculation. KralRindo notes that there’s no information available regarding ammo useage or attachments – and that there’s no guarantee that this weapon will make it into the final build of Apex Legends at all. It also comes shortly after developers at Respawn Entertainment used the Softball grenade launcher as an example of why Apex Legends doesn’t have more Titanfall weapons – so, there’s that.
So, what does this mean for Archer? Does this all mean that the rocket launcher found by KralRindo is destined to be an unreleased concept forever? Well, no. Respawn Entertainment is a pioneer when it comes to implementing new systems in its’ battle royale game and we don’t think explosive weapons are out of the question. However, it all depends on whether the developers can find the right balance for such equipment.
Apex Legends players can already get their hands on quite a few different types of grenades in-game and some characters at the top of our Apex Legends tier list have explosive-based abilities too. We can’t imagine Respawn Entertainment would introduce a weapon like a rocket launcher without first guaranteeing that it won’t make anything already available in-game redundant.
As always, we will keep our eyes out for any more information and keep you in the loop. However, don’t get your hopes up just yet. We could be a little ways away from seeing these sorts of things added to Apex – even if it is one of the best battle royale games out there.
