Apex Legends’ new Assassin’s Creed easter egg isn’t easiest to achieve

There's an Apex Legends Assassin's Creed easter egg hidden in away in the Firing Range, but Respawn Entertainment hasn't made finding it easy for FPS players.

Respawn Entertainment’s Arsenal update is here and eagle-eyed battle royale enthusiasts have already found Apex Legends’ Assassin’s Creed easter egg in the shooter’s brand-new Firing Range. If you’re booting up Apex Legends and you want to find this for yourself, though, you might have a hard time actually finding it; from what we’ve seen, it looks like you need to access another easter egg before you find the Assassin’s Creed one. We know this is one of the best battle royale games out there, but is that really necessary?

Well, whether you think it’s necessary or not, it’s the reality of the situation. If you want to check out the Assassin’s Creed easter egg hidden away in Apex Legends’ updated Firing Range, it looks like you first need to trigger the third-person POV easter egg.

If you’re wondering how you do that, we have you covered – thanks to Apex Legends content creator ‘bobz‘. As you can see in the video below, all you need to do is spawn into the new Firing Range, run over to the back-right corner, crouch against a rock without any weapons equipped, and then change characters.

We know that sounds a little silly, but you’ll have to take up any complaints you have with Respawn – we don’t make the rules. However, as you can see below, it works.

Anyway, now that you’ve sorted that out, we can finally check out the Assassin’s Creed easter egg.

In order to find this, you need to climb to the top of the tallest point in Apex Legends’ Firing Range – while in third-person mode. You should be able to identify which rock you need to clamber to the top of by looking out for a red flag. If you’re having trouble getting up there, trying this exploit as someone like Valkyrie or Horizon might be a good idea. However, the Jump Tower should help you out and there’s footage online of Apex Legends players doing this with Newcastle, Bloodhound, Crypto, and more – none of which have abilities to assist them.

As you can see in this example of the Assassin’s Creed easter egg from ‘astreeyuh‘ on Reddit, you’re going to need to climb to the top of the flagpole when you’re on top of this rock. This is the tricky part, but much like climbing Apex Legends’ Ranked mode, it just takes patience and precision.

Once you’re there, crouching on the flagpole and waiting a couple of seconds should trigger a synchronisation of Apex Legends’ Firing Range – complete with an audio trigger that feels ripped straigh out of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series. Used to clear the ‘fog of war’ and populate areas of an Assassin’s Creed game’s map with points of interest and collectibles, these synchronisation points are something you see quite a lot – and a feature countless other open world RPGs have adapted to fit into their own world.

However, we haven’t seen one in Apex Legends before – well, until now. If you’re skeptical about whether this is just a camera trick or not, you’ll be pleased to know that it’s very-much authentic – one Apex Legends dev has essentially confirmed that with his own recording of the easter egg.

We know Apex Legends’ Ballistic ultimate isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, but this is one addition to Apex Legends’ Season 17 we’re definitely a fan of. If you’re already looking forward to the future, though, you can find out more about Apex Legends’ Season 18 release date right here – and our updated Apex Legends tier list here.
