Microsoft has announced the Halo Master Chief Collection is getting a free Xbox Series X and S upgrade on November 17 – a week after the console launches. Players who own the collection already or people that subscribe to Xbox Games Pass will be able to play Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo 4 all fully optimised for their new consoles.

The collection is confirmed to have 120 FPS in the campaign and multiplayer, with split-screen improvements allowing the game to run up to 4K on the Xbox Series X. Since Microsoft recently announced the delay of Halo Infinite, the Master Chief Collection will have to tide fans over till its eventual 2021 release.

With Halo Infinite also launching on day one to Xbox Games Pass next year, Microsoft and 343 Industries is making it extremely difficult for gamers to find an excuse not to purchase the console.

While the game is delayed, it’s likely to feature on our best Xbox Series X games list in the future, especially since we’re already excited to get our hands on it.

The wait might be painful, but at least we’ll have some gorgeous looking Halo games to sink our teeth into around launch.
