1. Razer Universal Quick Charging Stand

The best Xbox controller charger dock.

Razer Universal Quick Charging Stand specs:

Charging rate Under 3 hours
Battery life Up to 30 hours
Battery size 1200 mAh
Compatibility Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One controllers

Pros

  • High-quality product
  • Great battery life and charging times
  • Various color options to match your Xbox controllers

Cons

  • Expensive compared to other options
  • Doesn’t work with Xbox Elite Controller Series 2

Razer has been producing great gadgets for console players over the last few years, and the Universal Quick Charging Stand is one of the best. Specifically designed for Xbox consoles, these docks are expensive, but they make up for it with high build quality and customization.

There’s a range of color options available, with an included rechargeable battery pack that fully charges in under three hours and lasts comparably well against other battery packs. It offers protection against overcharging, so you can leave your controller on charge for longer periods without having to worry about damaging the battery.

This is one of the most expensive charging docks, but it’s more than worth the price considering the quality and speed.

2. Venom Twin Charging Dock

Best budget dual charging dock.

Venom Twin Charging Dock specs:

Charging rate 3 hours+
Battery life Up to 15 hours
Battery size 2 x 850 mAh
Compatibility Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One controllers

Pros

  • Cheaper than similar docks
  • Charges two controllers simultaneously
  • Two rechargeable battery packs

Cons

  • Packs can’t be charged outside controller
  • Build quality lower than Razer

Venom’s Twin Charging Dock is cheaper than the Razer above and allows you to charge two controllers at the same time. It comes with two 850 mAh battery packs, each taking around an hour to charge up. The light on the front of the dock turns from red to green once it’s fully charged, and we managed to squeeze 15 hours of game time out of it.

While the dock comes with two battery packs as standard, you can also buy extras, and it’s fairly cost-effective to pick up a new one. If you have two controllers, this is a great option to charge one and play with the other to switch out on the fly, but for those with only one controller, the battery packs cannot be charged outside of a controller.

3. Xbox Rechargeable Battery

The best official Xbox controller charging solution.

Xbox Rechargeable Battery specs:

Charging rate Up to 4 hours (can play at the same time)
Battery life Up to 30 hours
Battery size 1300 mAh
Compatibility Xbox Series X|S controllers

Pros

  • Premium battery pack
  • Long battery life
  • Charge and play

Cons

  • Only compatible with USB-C controllers
  • Pricier than alternatives
  • Only one battery pack included

The Xbox Rechargeable Battery offers up to 30 hours of battery life from a single charge, with the battery taking four hours to recharge from dead. Better yet, you can play and charge at the same time.

Unfortunately, it’s only available to use with Xbox controllers with a USB-C type connection, meaning Xbox Series X|S controllers are compatible. Xbox One controllers aren’t.

There are cheaper options out there, but none of them are as durable as the Xbox Rechargeable Battery, which is worth the price.

4. Venom rechargeable battery pack

A budget charge-and-play option.

Venom Rechargeable Battery pack specs:

Charging rate 3 hours+ (can play at the same time)
Battery life Up to 20 hours
Battery size 850 mAh / 1100 mAh
Compatibility Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One controllers

Pros

  • Long cable with split for charging both controllers at one time
  • USB-C connection in the battery pack for faster charging
  • Compatible with Xbox One and Series X|S controllers

Cons

  • Not as durable as Xbox’s battery pack

The Venom rechargeable battery packs offer a cheap alternative to Xbox’s official battery pack, including two batteries instead of one. It also trumps the official Xbox charger as it’s compatible with both the Series X|S controllers and the older Xbox One controllers.

Both battery packs have a USB-C type connection installed, offering faster charging times than the old (and slow) Micro-USB. There are also two options available, one with 1100 mAh battery size and 850 mAh, with the former offering up to 50% extra battery life. It’s not as durable or high-quality as Xbox’s official option, but a worthy competitor.

The Venom comes with a lengthy 3m cable, that has a 1.5m split for charging two controllers at once. This is perfect for playing the best Xbox co-op games and when you’ve accidentally left that controller to gather dust waiting for friends to pop by.

5. Xbox Elite Controller Series 2

The best Xbox rechargeable controller.

Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 specs:

Charging rate 3-4 hours
Battery life Up to 40 hours
Battery size N/A
Compatibility N/A

Pros

  • Longest battery life on one charge
  • Premium controller with lots of customization options

Cons

  • Expensive option
  • Internal batteries will degrade over time

If you’d prefer a plug-and-play solution that doesn’t require an additional dock or battery packs, the Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 is the one. You get an incredible amount of customization, with interchangeable thumbsticks and D-Pad, and remappable buttons via the Xbox Accessories app.

While the controller’s features on its own make it worth picking up, the Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 offers the longest rechargeable battery life of any of the other products on our list, with up to 40 hours of playtime from a full charge. You can also plug in a USB-C cable (one is included with the controller) and play while the controller is charging.

We’d only recommend purchasing this product if you’re tired of buying AA batteries and you play your Xbox a lot. The internal battery will degrade over time, meaning you’ll need to replace it yourself, which could be fairly tricky and not worth the hassle. Aside from those gripes, the Elite Controller Series 2 is certainly a worthwhile investment.

Are Xbox controller chargers worth it?

If you find yourself using your Xbox controllers frequently and going through traditional, single-use batteries then Xbox controller chargers are worth buying. A decent charger dock or battery pack will save you money in the long run.

If money is no option, we’d opt for the Razer Universal Charging Dock or the Xbox Rechargeable Battery Pack if Xbox is your main console. You’ll get plenty of life from one charge, meaning longer gaming sessions and less frequent charging.

Those are the best Xbox controller chargers right now, and you can find out how we compile these lists on our how we test page.
