When is the Witchfire release date? The highly anticipated roguelike shooter from The Astronauts has been on fans’ radars for a while now. However, after almost half a decade of delays, Witchfire is almost ready to go.
We can’t wait to get our hands on the game after years of waiting, and we’re hoping it ends up being one of the best FPS games to play. Not only that but with the ex-founders of People Can Fly, the developer behind Bulletstorm and Painkiller, leading the project, it may also end up on our best roguelike games list too as Witchfire has shifted to that structure.
Witchfire release date
The Witchfire release date is Wednesday, September 20, 2023, on PC in early access via the Epic Games Store. This was announced with a new gameplay trailer during the Summer Game Fest 2023 stream. No Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch version has been announced yet.
Witchfire story
Armed with old-fashioned weapons and forbidden magic, you are the prayer, a witch hunter tasked by Vatican sorcerers to help the war effort against the very real, and very dangerous witches and threats that face you.
Witchfire gameplay
There are various creatures to defeat as well as new weapons to unlock over the course of the game. It’s likely that, similar to many other roguelike games, you’ll be able to keep some progress that you make when dying, allowing you to grow stronger with each run.
Back in 2022, the game was delayed with the explanation that they converted the combat from an arena-style experience to a semi-open world one, offering more nuanced combat alongside some light exploration elements. You can check out the latest gameplay trailer, seen during Summer Game Fest, below:
