Levelling classes and visiting the shop in Darktide’s hub area, the Mourningstar, will be the first way players will be formally introduced to the clothing system in Warhammer 40K Darktide. As you progress through the ranks with each class, you will unlock new cosmetic items for that class.

To unlock Warhammer 40K Darktide’s more flashy and valuable cosmetics, players will have to complete class-specific Penances. The Penance system in Darktide tasks players with completing certain challenges to earn rewards, usually Penance Points, though some unlock cosmetics. For example, the ‘Marked for Death’ Penance can be found in the Veteran’s Sharpshooter Penances page, tasking players with hitting four separate Weak Spots during a single use of Volley Fire to unlock the Pistolero’s Duty Uniform for the lower body.
