When was The Finals beta release date? After a couple of closed beta periods exclusive to PC, console players on PS5 and Xbox could finally play The Finals beta and get a taste of this exciting and explosive first-person shooter from Embark Studios.

Since The Finals beta happened, Embark Studios’ now-hit shooter has become a serious titan in the FPS game scene, with slick cosmetics, awe-inspiring gameplay, and consistent updates keeping it among the most popular shooters out there.

The Finals beta release date

The Finals open beta took place between October 26, 2023, and November 5, 2023, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This was announced during the Xbox Partner Preview in October and gave console players their first chance to experience this upcoming first-person shooter.

This open beta period was Embark Studios’ first time testing out The Finals crossplay ahead of launch, allowing players on all platforms to play against each other. It also saw the debut of Skyway Stadium, and the mode Bank It.

How to play The Finals beta

As The Finals is now available for everyone on PS5, Xbox, and PC, the beta version of the game is no longer accessible. Instead, you can download it free of charge right now on your platform of choice. However, the game is not available on PS4 or Xbox One consoles due to the incredibly demanding technical prowess the game displays.

The Finals beta modes

The latest modes for The Finals’ open beta were:

  • Unranked Tournament
  • Ranked Tournament
  • Quick Cash
  • Bank It

Unranked and Ranked Tournaments are both Cashout modes, where four teams of three play against each other in an attempt to find cashboxes and deposit them. However, the former is a ranked mode, meaning winning or losing affects your competitive rank.

Quick Cash, which was introduced in the second closed beta, is a casual-friendly version of Cashout with only three teams of three. It also offers faster respawns and extraction times, while limiting the amount of vaults available at any given time to one.

Bank It is another casual-friendly mode to experience. Once again, four teams of three have to fight in an attempt to collect coins. The team that reaches the max limit, or the team with the most cash at the end of the match wins.

The Finals beta rewards

During The Finals open beta, players were able to complete a 16-level free battle pass. Whatever rewards you unlock during the beta carried over to launch, so you could show everyone that you supported The Finals during its early days. Not only that, but the competitive Ranked Tournament features five ranks: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond, and now Ruby as of The Finals Season 3.

That’s everything to know ahead of The Finals beta. You may want to pick up one of the best Xbox controllers and best PS5 controllers to try to get the competitive edge if you’re thinking of giving the game a try.
