When is The Finals beta release date? After a couple of closed beta periods exclusive to PC, console players on PS5 and Xbox can finally play The Finals beta and get a taste of this exciting and explosive first-person shooter from Embark Studios.

While we’re still waiting for an announcement of The Finals release date, from our experience during previous betas, we believe it has a good shot of being one of the best FPS games and landing a spot on our best free shooting games list. But if you want to experience it first, here’s when and how to play the latest test session.

The Finals beta release date

The Finals open beta is taking place between October 26, 2023, and November 5, 2023, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This was announced during the Xbox Partner Preview in October and will give console players their first chance to experience this upcoming first-person shooter.

This open beta period will be Embark Studios’ first time testing out The Finals crossplay ahead of launch, allowing players on all platforms to play against each other. However, it’s unclear right now whether players can turn off crossplay in favor of playing against those on the same console.

While the game modes and maps will all be fresh for console players, PC players can look forward to a new game mode called Bank It during this test, as well as a new map called Skyway Stadium.

How to play The Finals beta

If you’re on Xbox or PS5, a store listing should become available to download when the open beta becomes available, while players on PC will need to sign up for playtests on the Steam store page for the game. However, considering it’s an open beta, you should get instant access after signing up, once the beta starts.

The Finals beta modes

The latest modes for The Finals’ open beta are:

  • Unranked Tournament
  • Ranked Tournament
  • Quick Cash
  • Bank It

Unranked and Ranked Tournaments are both Cashout modes, where four teams of three play against each other in an attempt to find cashboxes and deposit them. However, the former is a ranked mode, meaning winning or losing affects your competitive rank.

Quick Cash, which was introduced in the second closed beta, is a casual-friendly version of Cashout with only three teams of three. It also offers faster respawns and extraction times, while limiting the amount of vaults available at any given time to one.

Finally, the new mode is Bank It, which is another casual-friendly mode to experience. Once again, four teams of three have to fight in an attempt to collect coins. The team that reaches the max limit, or the team with the most cash at the end of the match wins.

The Finals beta rewards

During The Finals open beta, you’ll be able to complete a 16-level free battle pass. Whatever rewards you unlock during the beta will carry over to launch, so you can show everyone that you supported The Finals during testing when it finally releases.

Not only that, but the competitive Ranked Tournament features five ranks: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond, all of which offer permanent rewards upon reaching each rank. If you’ve had lots of experience with FPS games before, you may want to try your hand at getting these exclusive rewards.

That’s everything to know ahead of The Finals beta release date. If you’re hoping to reach Diamond during the open beta, you may want to pick up one of the best Xbox controllers and best PS5 controllers to try to get the competitive edge, or learn about all of The Finals weapons so you’ve got a good idea of what you’ll want to use.
