Tekken 8 gives Lidia a second chance to shine in new DLC announcement

The Tekken 8 Season 1 roadmap is looking mighty spicy, with new modes, stages, and now Lidia joining the fray on PS5 and Xbox.

Tekken 8 Season 1 Lidia: Lidia with her red getup next to two fighters locked in battle

Tekken 8 Season 1 is just around the corner, and developer Bandai Namco has a whole host of exciting content in the pipeline for the year ahead on PS5 and Xbox. Alongside already-announced fighter Eddy Gordo, Tekken 7’s Lidia Sobieski is readying herself for a huge reintroduction this Summer in Tekken 8, so get your Character Year 1 Pass ready.

Lidia is a great pickup for the Tekken 8 roster. Broadly considered a mid-tier character during the Tekken 7 era, Lidia arrived as the fighting game’s final DLC character. This meant that players had less time to get to know the Polish powerhouse, as most had found their mains by that point. Coming in early on in Tekken 8’s lifecycle, Bandai Namco is not only giving Lidia a fresh lease on life, but the developer also has the opportunity to make her a fighter worth mastering.

Lidia will debut this Summer alongside the new stage ‘Seaside Resort’ – the perfect place to throw back a couple of cocktails and throw down with the homies – as well as the long-awaited photo mode. I personally can’t wait to get a close-up of Panda giving Kazuya the left-right goodnight…

Before that, though, some crucial balance adjustments are being made this Spring – just in time for Eddy’s arrival. Speaking of Eddy, a new story beat involving the man himself is set to land this Fall. From the glimpse we saw in the Tekken 8 Season 1 trailer above, Nina’s also somehow involved – then again, when isn’t Nina involved?

Further on in the roadmap, additional modes like Ghost vs. Ghost and Online Practice have been slated for “a later date.” Ghost vs. Ghost sounds like an amazing way to emulate how you’d match up against some of the best players in the world – I’d get mauled instantly, but your trained AI may fare better against the gods.
