Purple Lamp Studios is once again behind this undersea adventure following its excellent work on the remake of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle For Bikini Bottom. However, The Cosmic Shake expands on the world of SpongeBob, taking him and his friends to new locales and embarking on fresh adventures. Here’s everything you need to know.

SpongeBob SquarePants The Cosmic Shake release date

The SpongeBob SquarePants The Cosmic Shake release date was on Monday, January 31, 2022 for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Later that year on October 23, an upgraded new-gen version of the game was released for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players. For anyone that already owned the standard version of the game, they could upgrade to the shiny new-gen version for free.

The game also came to mobile devices in December 2023.

The story of SpongeBob SquarePants The Cosmic Shake involves SpongeBob and Patrick being given wish-granting Mermaid’s Tears from a fortune-teller called Kassandra. Due to their overexcitement at the gift, the duo ends up undoing the fabric holding together the universe.

From there, the gang are transported to different worlds full of knights, cowboys, pirates, and prehistoric snails as Bikini Bottom is covered in Cosmic Jelly. Their goal is to save their pals from the various worlds they visit and attempt to end the multiversal carnage.

The Cosmic Shake is an action platformer where traversal, light combat, and collectible hunting is at its core. SpongeBob can learn various new abilities and attacks as he progresses through the game.

Various bosses appear on your adventure, and on completing each level, SpongeBob is awarded with a brand new outfit.

A full run of the game will likely take you around ten hours, while a 100% completionist run will probably feel more like 15-17 hours.
