For a lot of Sonic the Hedgehog fans, there’s nothing out there that beats the classics. Sonic Heroes was decent enough, but recent Sonic games have fallen short of what people expect from Sega and the Blue Blur. With Sonic’s original appearances regarded as some of the best platformers ever, fans will be pleased to know that Sega is bringing them back with stunning remastered visuals through Sonic Origins. If you’re wondering when the Sonic Origins release date is, though, you’re in the right place.
Sonic Origins is going to feature four remastered titles, with hours of nostalgia-filled platforming fun from the following games: Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog CD, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. However, it’s not just a carbon copy – players are going to be able to play as Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles throughout all four games. The Sonic Origins release date can’t come soon enough, right?
There’s also going to be both classic modes and anniversary modes with all new animated scenes littered throughout. If that sounds like a decent amount of Sonic to you, keep reading for the latest information on when it comes out and more.

On all these digital storefronts, players can purchase the Digital Deluxe edition of Sonic Origins to get access to bonus hard missions, additional music, additional character animations and more. As reported by VGC, this also includes a mirror mode and camera controls over the main menu islands – an unusual feature to lock behind a paywall.
