There are a lot of amazing shooters out there, but we wouldn’t have many of them if it weren’t for the DOOM games. Developer iD Software helped pioneer the genre in its infancy, and we’ve been reaping the rewards in FPS franchises like Call of Duty ever since. Now, a new PS5 sale on the PlayStation Store is dishing out some hefty discounts, including a delicious deal on the DOOM Slayers Collection.
If you’ve been looking for some new PS5 games to sink your teeth into, then you can’t go wrong with a collection of the best FPS games under the iD Software banner. You need to head over to the PlayStation Store right now, because you’ve got until Thursday, March 28, 2024, to snag the DOOM Slayers Collection for a steal price of $7.99/£6.24. Not only do you get access to the first DOOM, a bona fide classic of the genre, but you’ll be able to play the superb 2016 soft reboot of the series too – and everything in between, of course.
Typically, the DOOM Slayers Collection sells for $29.99/£24.99. This is still a solid price, putting it on par with recent collections like the also great Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Collection from Aspyr. It’s far better than Aspyr’s Star Wars Battlefield Classic Collection, that’s for sure. It’s a bit of a no-brainer purchase, really, considering that DOOM (2016) sells for $19.99/£15.99 on its own.
We’d probably say that DOOM 3 is the weakest of the collection, but there’s plenty of enjoyment to be found within it. Although it plays it a little too safe in terms of pushing the franchise forward, you’ll still get loads of gnarly action out of it. Aside from the first game, 2016’s DOOM is an essential FPS game thanks to its superb combat, inspired art direction and Mick Gordon’s filthy, disgusting guitar tones ripping and tearing their way through his amazing soundtrack. But it isn’t the only deal worth snagging if you’re riding on the DOOM train.
DOOM Eternal, one of the best PS5 games of its generation, is also on sale for $9.99/£8.74. Somehow, just somehow, iD Software elevates the franchise again here. Eternal goes bigger, bolder, and bloodier. How can you turn your nose up at that?
