Paying platform-holders like Sony and Microsoft to be able to play online has become commonplace at this point, but if you’re one of the individuals who has let their PS Plus subscription lapse, or you just refuse to pay for the service, then you might like to know that you will be able to play online for free on the PS4 and PS5 consoles from February 12 to February 14.
According to the PlayStation website and a tweet from PlayStation Europe, in celebration of Valentine’s Day, players will be able to use any online multiplayer modes in any games that have them without a PlayStation Plus subscription from 12:01 AM local time on Saturday, February 12 to 11:59 PM on Monday, February 14.
This is a handy way to get a taste for the service before subscribing, or convincing your significant other to finally play a game with you – or perhaps find yourself a soulmate in the pre-game lobby. Fall Guys could make for a light-hearted and fun way of spending the evening, or you could spice things up and play something like Deathloop and hunt down your co-op partner as Julianna.
PlayStation Plus is a subscription service for PlayStation consoles that allows more than just playing online; you also receive ‘free’ games every month you are subscribed. Once redeemed, your monthly games will stay attached to your account, allowing you to play them whenever you’d like so long as you keep your subscription active.
