NBA 2K23 MyNBA Eras: The Magic Vs Bird era image can be seen

The Magic vs Bird Era – MyNBA Era

The Magic vs Bird Era has you relive 1983 and beyond as Magic and Bird help put the NBA back into the spotlight. The competition and drama between them both stew as young prospect Michael Jordan begins to emerge.

In this era, the main moments are the Hornets, Heat, Timberwolves, and Magic join the NBA in 1988 and 1989. More physical plays and hand-checking is brought in by the league and a vintage 80s-era presentation with simple overlays are shown in-game.

In addition, during this period, the San Diego Clippers moved to Los Angeles in 1984, the Kansas City Kings moved to Sacramento in 1985, and zone defence is banned. While playing with this era enabled, you can find unique 80s commentary, in addition to several new uniforms and floors.

The Jordan Era – MyNBA Era

The Jordan Era is when the GOAT ruled the league in the 90s. Start in 1991 and see Michael Jordan’s rise as he enters the league and Shaquille O’Neal makes his entrance alongside him.

During this decade, the Raptors and Grizzlies joined the league in 1995 and the G League was established in 2001. In addition, commentary, while you play, will be tailored to the era.

Some key moments during this period include the Back to Basket being made illegal in 1999, hand-checking being allowed in 1996, and zone defence being made legal in 2001. While you are playing in games, several new floors and uniforms can be spotted and more complex overlays are paired with the classic 90s-era presentation.

The Kobe Era – MyNBA Era

The Kobe Era takes you through the 2000s when Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade, LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Kobe himself all establish legendary careers as they join the NBA.

During this era, some key new rules were established. Social Media become influential in 2007 and the league expanded to six divisions. The Charlotte Bobcats also joined the NBA in 2004.

While in this league, you can get several new floors and uniforms, a 2000’s era presentation with advanced overlays and specific commentary, alongside a revamped commentary booth. In addition, seven games in the first round of the playoffs were brought in, in 2003, the Sonics rebranded in 2008, and the instant replay feature made its debut in 2002.

The Modern Era – MyNBA Era

The modern era is what the NBA looks like today. Starting off in the 2022 offseason, you will go through the current season and see who currently reigns in the league.

In this era, the All-Star Teams were redrafted in 2018 and play-in was added in 2020. Much earlier, back in 2012 the Nets also rebranded.

Major changes during these years were that coaches can challenge calls from 2019 onwards, a new simplified timeout system was implemented in 2017, and the All-Star game has a fixed-score ending. The presentation features modern commentary from the current commentary booth, a modern-era presentation and contemporary overlays. Several new flaws and uniforms have also been added.
