Like the rest of EA’s sports titles that used the Dual Entitlement program, Madden 22 offered PS4 players the chance to upgrade to the PS5 version of the game. However, this was a confusing mess back when it launched, let alone all these years later.

You’re in the right place to find out how it worked, as with Madden 22, things changed slightly for PS4, PS5, as well as Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S players.

Madden 22 PS4 to PS5 upgrade

Madden 22’s PS4 to PS5 upgrade was only available for those who pre-ordered the MVP Edition or the Dynasty Edition of the game.

As a result, this meant that if you purchased the standard edition for PS4 or PS5 digitally or physically, you would not get access to the Dual Entitlement bonus or a free PS4 to PS5 upgrade, even today. This also applied to players on Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.

In other words, if you wanted to play Madden 22 on PS5 anytime after its initial release, you would have to purchase the game again to enjoy the next-gen benefits.

Well, that explains the frustration method of getting Madden 22’s PS4 to PS5 upgrade. Unsurprisingly, this process did not go down well with the Madden community, with many feeling somewhat burned by EA’s tactics and limitations when it came to upgrading Madden 22 to the PS5 version.
