Lego Brawls console release date, gameplay, new features

Here's everything you need to know about Lego Brawls now that it's made its way from mobile over to PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Lego Brawls Release Date: Multiple mini-figures can be seen running towards the camera

Lego Brawls was massively popular on Apple Arcade, so its later launch on consoles was an exciting moment. Alongside all the features that made the game a hit on mobile, the new version for PlayStation and Xbox adds some new ones too.

Lego Brawls is a traditional multiplayer brawler with an eye-watering amount of character customization options which can be used to craft your own specific fighter. The goal is to conquer opponents and collect minifigures, which you can then use in a battle. Alongside this, there is a host of unlockable content based on Lego’s many different themes over the years, including tie-ins to other franchises. Here’s everything you need to know about the game.

Lego Brawls release date

While the original, Apple Arcade version of the game launched all the way back on September 19, 2019, the Lego Brawls release date for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch arrived on September 2, 2022.

Despite the game’s success on Apple Arcade and the excitement for a new Lego game, it was met with a lukewarm reception by reviewers – an end-of-year roundup by review aggregator Metacritic listed it as 2022’s fifth-worst game.

Lego Brawls console gameplay

Lego Brawls is a side-on, 2D platform fighting game, similar in style to the Super Smash Bros. series. What’s different though is that it is not just a 1v1 fighter.

Alongside last-player-standing, battle royale-style modes that you can play solo, there are also team-based modes. Control The Point, for example, features two teams of four competing over an objective point.

Lego Brawls new features

Alongside its console launch, the game received some essential new features, the biggest being crossplay. With the game now spread across so many platforms, it introduced full crossplay to allow those on mobile, consoles, and PC to play with and against each other.

For some platforms, its local co-op support was also improved. Previously, Apple devices could only support up to four-player local co-op, but on Xbox and Nintendo Switch, this cap was increased to eight players.
