The current League of Legends meta is a bit of a spooky one for botlaners. If you lose the early push in lane, the odds are you’re going to be dove by the enemy jungler pretty quickly. As part of the upcoming LoL patch 13.3 notes, Riot is looking to deter early dives by making some shrewd tweaks to the laning experience.
As shared by Summoner’s Rift team lead Matt ‘Phroxzon’ Leung-Harrison to Twitter, towers will now do more damage early in the game, while Stealth Ward Trinket cooldown has been reduced. This not only means teams will have to be even more proficient at juggling tower aggro should they get into a position to dive, while the increased vision uptime will hopefully shrink easy ganking intervals.
Of course, tapping the power of ganking junglers is one thing, but Riot is also giving some love to farming junglers to help close the gap in power between the two. Treat gold will now have a lower cooldown, while XP from large monsters is being upped.
Although the jungle appears to be lopsided in favour of ganking junglers over farming junglers right now, SK Gaming star Mark ‘Markoon’ van Woensel told The Loadout during an LEC post-match interview that Riot is “starting to strike a decent balance between the two”. As such, we’ll have to see what sort of state the role ends up in once 13.3 arrives.
Originally, Pantheon, Pyke, and Thresh were all due to receive some much-needed love as part of the support tank update, though these have now been pulled back. According to Phroxzon, the trio were dropped from the patch as to not “creep too much damage”, especially after the changes to Grievous Wounds and enchanters made on patch 13.1b.
It is not currently known if the champions will return to the LoL patch notes for 13.4.
