League of Legends has unveiled its newest champion: Gwen, The Hallowed Seamstress. The champion is armed with needles and thread, as well as a comically-oversized pair of scissors, which she uses to terrorise her opponents.
From her voice lines in the trailer (which you can check out below), it seems that Gwen is some kind of marionette or doll brought to life by ill-willed powers to fight it out on the Rift. From this quick look, she seems to attack using a variety of stabs and jabs, as well as a quick ranged attack in which needles are thrown at her enemies.
League of Legends’ gameplay design director, Mark Yetter, has further teased a little bit of what we can expect from Gwen. He describes her as a “squishy AP fighter”, who can defend herself from ranged carries using her “unique ability” which will shroud her in Hallowed Mist to give her protection. Expect full details on her kit to be released soon.
Riot will be hoping that the release of Gwen will go somewhat smoother than the release of previous champion Viego, who was plagued by game-breaking bugs.
The bugs were so severe, Riot has been unable to fix Viego in time for the Spring Split Playoffs and MSI 2021 for this season’s LoL esports calendar, despite being released over two months ago.
