Some Genshin Impact players may have already splurged their hard earned Primogems on bringing Yae Miko home, but they might want to start saving as the Kamisato Ayato release date is now just around the corner.
Head of the Kamisato clan, Yashiro Commissioner, and older brother of Ayaka – herself one of the top tier DPS characters in the game right now – Ayato is a Hydro sword user like Xingqiu. This boba-loving statesman looks to be a scary addition to any team based on what we’ve seen in both official streams and leaked gameplay.
From what we’ve seen so far, Ayato scales with Critical Damage as his main ascension stat, which could introduce some flexibility in his artifacts. Additionally, footage of Ayato’s ultimate ability gives the impression that he could combo up very well with the likes of Ganyu, who herself received a rerun alongside Zhongli in version 2.4. For more on potential team comps, check out our Genshin Impact Ayato build guide.
So what else do we reportedly know about Ayato? Well, read on to find out the Genshin Impact Kamisato Ayato release date, his abilities, and any leaks that have been floating around so far. As with all unconfirmed characters, the information in this guide is not to be taken as gospel.

Genshin Impact Kamisato Ayato abilities
Dataminers have been working devilishly hard to uncover everything they can about the Kamisato man. While HoYoverse confirmed the names of Ayato’s abilities and gave a brief flavour text of what they do in the most recent Version 2.6 livestream, the full rundowns in this guide have been taken from various reports throughout the 2.6 beta, so take them with a pinch of salt.
Normal Attack – Kamisato Art – Marobashi
- Normal attack: Perform up to five rapid strikes
- Charged attack: Consumes a certain amount of stamina to dash forward and perform an iai
- Plunging attack: Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging any enemies in your path and dealing area of effect damage upon impact
Elemental Skill – Kamisato Art: Kyouka
Ayato summons a Hydro clone of himself, which explodes either at the end of its duration (15 seconds) or when it is near enemies, dealing AoE Hydro damage to nearby enemies.
After activating the skill, Ayato enters the Takimeguri Kanka state, which sees him use his Shunusuiken sword to engage in blindingly fast attacks. His resistance to interruption is increased in this state. Additionally, normal attack damage is converted into AoE Hydro damage. This cannot be overridden by other elemental modifiers.
Ayato also gains the Namisen effect during Takimeguri Kanka, increasing Shunusuiken damage based on Ayato’s maximum HP. Namisen initially stacks up to four times, and stacks can be gained through attacking with Shunusuiken every 0.1 seconds. Namisen’s effect ends when Ayato leaves the Takimeguri Kanka state.
The tradeoff here is that Ayato won’t be able to use charged or plunging attacks while in Takimeguri Kanka. This state will automatically end after 15 seconds, and can be manually cancelled by either activating Kamisato Art: Kyouka again, or switching Ayato out for another character.
A final element of this skill worth bearing in mind is that the normal attacks of nearby party members will reduce Kamisato Art: Kyouka’s cooldown.
- Cooldown: 20 seconds
- Duration: 15 seconds
Elemental Burst – Kamisato Art: Suiyuu
Creates a circular space in which AoE Bloomwater Blades will constantly rain down, attacking opponents and dealing Hydro damage. Ayato and his allies will also gain bonus normal attack damage while within Kamisato Art: Suiyuu’s radius.
- Cooldown: 20 seconds
- Duration: 15 seconds
- Energy cost: 80

Kamisato Art: Daily Cooking

Genshin Impact Kamisato Ayato beta changes
Genshin’s beta realm appears to update on a weekly basis, with Ayato reportedly receiving a number of changes over the past few weeks. Most recently, Ayato’s ‘Soukai Kanka’ state was renamed to ‘Takimeguri Kanka’, and his water clone no longer taunts enemies.
Meanwhile, March 7’s update saw Ayato’s C6 get buffed. The two extra Shunsuiken Strikes now deal 450% of Ayato’s attack as damage, up from 300%.
Ayato's C6 changed:
"After using Kamisato Art: Kyouka, Ayato's next Shunsuiken attack will create 2 extra Shunsuiken strikes when they hit opponents, each one dealing 450% (300% old) of Ayato's ATK as DMG.
Both these Shunsuiken attacks will not be affected by Namisen."— Ayato Kamisato (@Ayato_Mains) March 7, 2022
The week before saw much heftier changes, which you can check out in this Reddit thread. As always, we will be keeping the above flavour texts for all of Ayato’s talents and constellations up to date based on the latest tweaks.
