There are plenty of iconic spies to call upon, but some players are hopeful that a Fortnite Mission Impossible crossover will be part of one of the best battle royale games around.
According to Fortnite reporter ‘ShiinaBR’, Epic Games is rolling the first hints for Chapter 4 Season 4, as the developer updates the game’s social media with intriguing-yet-vague promotional material. Both the new icon and banner image feature what can be interpreted as laser beams, not unlike those seen in spy movies. The mysterious imagery has fans debating what it could mean, and many are suggesting Mission Impossible content might be on the cards.
“This reminded me of Mission Impossible. [Could] Ethan Hunt make his way to Fortnite?” comments Twitter user ‘MrOutsider95‘. Another Fortnite player, ‘SynOdyna’ echoes this: “Ethan Hunt? Mission Impossible collab?”
It is possible that other iconic spies like James Bond are in the mix, as ‘Breakingdead1‘ suggests it may be “Mission Impossible? Spy x Family? James Bond?” Alongside these fan theories, many commenters are simply tweeting a gif of Ethan Hunt’s legendary infiltration of the CIA headquarters from the first Mission Impossible movie.
The aforementioned CIA scene requires the Impossible Mission Force agent to avoid making noise or touching the surfaces of a highly restricted vault. Helmed by 80s cinema maestro Brian De Palma, the sequence is one of the franchise’s most-known scenes.
A Mission Impossible would be a surprise move for Tom Cruise, as the actor has famously denied requests to use his likeness for games and merchandise.
