Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 3 delayed for a third time

Epic Games wants its team to focus on themselves, their families, and their communities right now

Fortnite Battle Royale

Epic Games has delayed Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 3 once again, this time in response to the ongoing protests in the United States of America over the death of George Floyd.

This is now the third time the developer has delayed the start of the new season. The company first extended the current season by a month in April but offered very little explanation in why. Last week, Epic confirmed it would be extending it again by a week “in an effort to get everything ready” for Season 3. Now, it’s been delayed again, but for quite a different reason.

“We’re acutely aware of the pain our friends, families, team members, players, and communities are experiencing,” Epic Games says in a blog. “We believe in equality and justice, diversity and inclusion, and that these fundamentals are above politics. The team is eager to move Fortnite forward, but we need to balance the Season 3 launch with time for the team to focus on themselves, their families, and their communities.”

As such, the live doomsday event, The Device, will be pushed back until Monday, June 15. Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 3 will therefore launch two days later on Wednesday, June 17.
