Who are the FIFA 23 Heroes? That’s right the hero system, first introduced last year is making a return in FIFA 23 giving us the chance to get our hands on meta FUT heroes players like David Ginola all over again.
Sure, FIFA 23 Hero cards aren’t exactly FIFA 23 Icons, but they are worth investing in – especially if you get lucky at the start of the season. Some of the FUT Heroes last year cost millions of coins on the market, while some were available for a couple of thousand. But with green links to players in the same league they made their name in, they’re a fantastic option if you’re lacking in the chemistry department.
But who are the FIFA 23 heroes this year and how will they work? We’ve got everything you need to know about these promotional cards right here.
FIFA 23 hero players
This year, FUT heroes are becoming superheroes, thanks to a Marvel collaboration. FIFA 23 heroes still work in the same way, except the card art will have all the hallmarks of one of your favourite films.

What are the FIFA 23 Hero changes?
To keep things fresh this year, EA has given all FUT heroes two cards. One will be a base card if you like and the other will be a special FIFA World Cup hero version.
There is a bid to make FIFA 23 heroes progressive this year. It’s unclear what that currently means, but EA’s collaboration with Marvel this year means all our FUT heroes are getting something of a glow up in their card art.
Are FIFA 23 Heroes icons?
FUT Hero cards are not icons – in fact they’re a completely different card. They offer different stats (which are often lower than Icon cards), different chemistry, and they’re tied to a specific league.
You can find a full list of the FIFA 23 icons here.
Will there be a FIFA 23 hero SBC?
It’s unlikely that there will be a FIFA 23 SBC – at least in the early days. About midway through the FIFA 22 season, EA launched a couple of hero SBCs, allowing players to trade in some fodder in a bid to get their hands on one of the game’s heroes.
This is likely to return later on in the FIFA 23 season.
