FIFA 21 Team of the Year nominations are now open

I'm blue, da ba dee da bad dye....

If you ask any FIFA player what their favourite colour is, you’ll find a lot of them saying blue. Why? Because blue means Team of the Year time.

Arguably the most anticipated promo release of the entire FIFA cycle, Team of the Year sees 12 of the best cards imaginable go up for grabs in packs. It’s a real money-maker for EA, and FIFA players will go head over wallet to try and pull a TOTY blue card. Like in FIFA 20, FIFA 21 will again see a completely public vote decide which players get painted blue.

A total of 70 players have been included in the FIFA 21 nominee list, which includes the usual suspects such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Sergio Ramos, and FIFA 21 poster boys Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, and Joao Felix. While their 2020 performances on the turf certainly warrant nominations, it is quite funny seeing the likes of Southampton’s Danny Ings named on the list as well.

With voting opening today, January 7, and closing on January 18, fans have around a week and a half to build their Team of the Year and vote for their favourite (or sweatiest) players.

With a full public vote for the Team of the Year, it looks as if we’re getting just 11 cards again this year. That is, unless, EA goes completely mad and drops a subs bench of blue cards too.

We don’t know when the TOTY voting results will be revealed or when the cards will drop in FIFA 21 just yet, but with voting finishing on January 18, the final week of January seems a strong contender for the event.

Cast your vote for Danny Ings – sorry – for your favourite player here.
