Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree looks absolute fire in new trailer

The new Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree trailer gives us a glimpse of Marika and Messmer in action on PS5 and Xbox.

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree trailer new: Marika holding up a Rune Arc next to Messmer

The mystique surrounding Miquella has been one of the biggest talking points in Elden Ring since its release two years ago. Now, as we finally enter the final month of waiting ahead of the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree launch on June 21, FromSoftware has treated us to a fiery new Elden Ring trailer, offering up a fresh look at the upcoming DLC on PS5 and Xbox.

The latest three-minute peek is characteristically confusing, as we shift between Marika offering up a Rune Arc, and the flame-wielding Messmer the Impaler laying waste to a city – seemingly what would become the Land of Shadow itself. However, what is clear is the cool as fuck giant fire pits on legs that I can’t wait to beat the kindling out of, alongside what I suspect are the Soulslike game’s new Sites of Grace.

The full transcript from the RPG game’s new trailer, which can be seen below, is as follows: “Miquella the Kind spoke of the beginning. The seduction. And the betrayal. An affair from which Gold arose. And so too was Shadow born. What followed was a war unseen. One that could never be put to song. A purge without Grace or honor. The tyranny of Messmer’s flame. And so Kindly Miquella would abandon everything. His golden flesh, his blinding strength. Even his fate. But we are not deterred. We choose to follow. Will you walk with us?” Make of that what you will, my brain is already fried.

Personally, I’m just as excited for the impending three-hour ‘VaatiVidya’ lore breakdown that’s sure to follow this latest trailer as I am for the Shadow of Erdtree itself. Okay, that’s a tiny lie, but this morsel of Miyazaki magic will have its most fervent theorists scrambling to join the pieces up, and I can’t wait to see what they concoct.
