Warzone Nail Gun unlock – how to get the Nail Gun in Cold War

Here's how to unlock the unique Nail Gun in Call of Duty Warzone and Black Ops Cold War.

A Black Ops Cold War operator runs across a flaming rooftop wielding a Nail Gun

You can no longer get the Nail Gun in Warzone because this version of the game was shut down. However, this guide will be updated and will come in handy if the Nail Gun ever returns. It is still available in Black Ops Cold War multiplayer via the in-game challenge.

We had some pretty obscure weapons added into Call of Duty: Warzone over its lifetime, but most were mainly confined to the melee class. However, Warzone and Black Ops Cold War Season 4 added perhaps the most outlandish up until that point – the Nail Gun.

In the right hands, the Nail Gun was an oddly devastating weapon in the battle royale game, so much so that there were widespread calls for it to be nerfed at the time.

While it’s unfortunately no longer possible to unlock the Nail Gun in Warzone now that its integration with Black Ops Cold War is over, here’s how it was done. And if you’re journeying back to one of the most underrated entries in the series, you can actually still unlock the Nail Gun in Black Ops Cold War multiplayer via an in-game challenge.

Nail Gun Warzone unlock

To unlock the Nail Gun back in Warzone Season 4, you needed to complete an in-game challenge tasking with you with getting five eliminations with special weapons in 15 different completed matches.

The Nail Gun challenge was the same in both Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, so you were best off doing it in Cold War multiplayer as matches were shorter and getting kills was easier. Ironically, while it is no longer possible to get the Nail Gun in Warzone following the removal of all Cold War content, you can still get it in Black Ops Cold War’s traditional multiplayer modes if you’re still playing this older entry.

Special weapons in Black Ops Cold War included the Ballistic Knife, the R1 Shadowhunter crossbow, and the M79 grenade launcher, so getting kills with any of these would count towards your Nail Gun challenge.

Alternatively, if you didn’t want to grind the challenge, the Nail Gun had its own blueprint in the store at the time. Buying the blueprint would unlock the weapon for you. The blueprint was called Puncture Wound and was part of the Frame Work bundle in the store.

Well, that’s how you could unlock the Nail Gun in Warzone back when it was available in Season 4 of the Black Ops Cold War era of the battle royale. Although it didn’t fundamentally change the meta, it was an incredibly unique weapon that we hope to see return once more.
