Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Invasion mode explained

Modern Warfare 2’s Invasion mode is a 20v20 mode that also features 20 AI on each team. The mode is built for a combination of that AI and that PvP gameplay.

It drops two teams of 20 players onto a map and they have to fight to be the last one standing. The mode is currently available in the second week of the beta for the game.

In effect, it is a larger-scale team deathmatch that resembles something closer to Attrition from the original Titanfall.
