Battlefield 2042 is no longer receiving major updates and additional content. However, this PP-29 loadout is still usable.
With slick handling, great damage, and predictable recoil, the PP-29 is certainly one of the best Battlefield 2042 guns. Although this 9mm submachine gun is meant to have a reduced range, it packs a surprising punch even outside of close range, and it’s low recoil only makes this more apparent.
The PP-29 is the older, more advanced brother of the PP-19 Bison, a gun that made its first appearance in the series in Battlefield 3. The 2042 variant is still a fast-firing beast that can take over 50 rounds, but it’s a bit more balanced for different combat situations.
You can unlock the Bison at level 18 in-game, but if you want to create the best PP-29 Battlefield 2042 loadout, you’re going to have to work for it. A lot of the attachments that make this gun special come later down the line, but trust us – it’s worth it.

The best Battlefield 2042 PP-29 build is:
- UH-1 Smart 1.5x
- Standard Issue
- Factory Mounts
- Extended Barrel
The PP-29 is best when it’s used up close, but it can take on medium engagements with ease as well – though don’t expect to outmatch an assault rifle unless you’ve got the better aim.
For the sight, we’d recommend using the UH-1 Smart 1.5x as your default – this gives you a good idea of what’s happening around you while allowing you to run riot up close. As a secondary sight, we’d recommend either the XO Smart 2x or the M22 2.5x to give you some additional range. However, a simple red dot will also do the trick.
In the ammunition department, the Standard Issue rounds should be your go-to. But, when things get a bit more… hectic, we’d recommend slapping the High-Power mag in to give you a bit of a boost. The Subsonic mag isn’t much help unless you’re in a dark area and you want to stay quiet.
As for the barrel, well you’re spoiled for choice. We recommend the Extended Barrel which will give you increased range and bullet velocity. As your secondary option, the Champion Muzzle Break will help you with your recoil if you’re finding it tricky to control.

Since the SMG is fairly fast-firing, we’d recommend picking the Ammo Crate if you’re going to go on long killstreaks. However, the right answer here is to pick whatever will help your team out – so assess that first.
It’s also worth remembering that gadgets are restricted based on your class, with the Ammo Crate requiring you to play Support. So, some alternatives include the IBA Armor Plate, Medical Crate, Proximity Sensor, and SPH Explosive Launcher, depending on your chosen class.
Best PP-29 Battlefield 2042 loadout specialist classes
You can’t really go wrong with any of the classes and specialists, as each brings something unique to the table. With that said, we love playing the Assault class with an SMG like the PP-29. Mackay and Skydance are standouts here as you can quickly reposition and keep your enemies on their toes.
However, the Support class is a great pick for drawn-out fights as the medical and ammo boxes can keep you and your team in the fight for longer. When you’re running around in a chaotic firefight, these can come in clutch – trust us.
Even Recon – the traditionally long-range class – has some great tools to offer this PP-29 build. The intelligence-gathering nature of Recon can be very helpful so you know when and where your next target will come from, especially if you’re using the Proximity Sensors.
