In Norse mythology, the date of Ragnarok is an uncertain one, but that’s not the case for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla fans. Dawn of Ragnarök, the much-anticipated latest story DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, is available from March 10, and, because it’s not covered by the game’s season pass, it’s a good idea to get your pre-order now.
Dawn of Ragnarök will continue Odin’s half of the story and with over 35 hours of new content, this is set to be Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s biggest expansion yet. It’s not just new story content either, but also new game mechanics. This DLC will introduce the ability to steal powers from enemies that you defeat, letting you do things like transform into a raven or walk on lava.
Over the years, the Assassin’s Creed games have moved further and further away from the stealth mechanics which defined the earliest instalments. If you’re someone who misses this aspect of the series, you may be delighted to hear that some of the new mechanics here will focus more on stealth (for example, allowing you to magically disguise yourself so that you can enter an enemy base undetected), bringing the series back to its roots, while still exploring new horizons.
This expansion will also introduce Valkyrie Trials, a mode where you face off against wave after wave of oncoming enemies. This is good news for anybody who loves the game’s combat system and a good horde mode, but in addition, this includes a loose story aspect to it, as the Valkyrie Trails are actually giving Odin an opportunity to relive his past battles.
