If you’re like me, you’ve likely spent hours trying to decode the location depicted on a scruffy, child-like drawing of a lion next to a river and some buildings. Well, here’s how to solve the Assassin’s Creed Mirage Left Behind Enigma. You’ll be pleased to know that the blame isn’t all on you – the AC Mirage Left Behind location doesn’t quite match up with the already vague clue.
Left Behind is perhaps the most difficult of the Assassin’s Creed Mirage Enigmas due solely to the fact that you’re given a shoddy clue. The Assassin’s Creed Mirage map is already vast and diverse, so finding a group of buildings next to water and, for some reason, a lion, is like trying to find an Assassin in a haystack. After some strong detective work, a bit of luck, and a lot of headache during our Assassin’s Creed Mirage review playthrough, I’ve found the Left Behind location so you don’t have to.
How to solve the Assassin’s Creed Mirage Left Behind Enigma
The Assassin’s Creed Mirage Left Behind Enigma is located in the Abandoned Village on the far west side of the Wilderness region, next to a fishing hut. Solving it will reward you with the Horned Lion Talisman.

Once you’ve headed to the location, look out for a small fishing hut in the southeast corner of the village. The treasure site is at the foot of two fish drying racks outside the fishing hut, next to a small straw hut near the beach. If you look closely at the Left Behind drawing, you can just about make out two small fish inside the building on the right of the image.
Beware though, the lackluster lion drawing in the clue isn’t just for dramatic effect; there are several dangerous animals patrolling the Abandoned Village and they’re surprisingly strong. While you don’t have to fight them to reach the location, you likely won’t have a choice as there’s one on the beach and two on the ledge above the treasure site guarding a chest. Speaking off, you might as well pick up that chest while you’re in the area.
Initially, I assumed the child-like drawing depicted a lion next to a river in the city. If you’ve spent more than five minutes in Baghdad, you’ll no doubt have realized that there are lots of rivers cutting through the Round City and its districts. After having no luck, I revisited the clue. Taking note of the name ‘Left Behind’, I decided to head out into the Wilderness region, in search of a far-out village along a large river, rather than a stream cutting through the city.
This led me to scour the in-game map for villages when I came across the aptly named Abandoned Village location to the west of the Wilderness, which lined up with the evidence – a layered village next to a large river. Arriving here, I was quickly ambushed by a pack of hungry lions, letting me know I was on the right track.
The main issue players will encounter with the Left Behind Enigma in AC Mirage is that, not only is the drawing so vague it’s hard to pinpoint a specific location, but it’s also incorrect. Looking at the drawing, you would expect the treasure to be towards the center of the town on the sand right next to the river, which is where I started my search. However, the fishing hut in question is actually further up the hill and closer to the outskirts of the Abandoned Village to the south.
If you’re looking to solve more Enigmas after Left Behind, this is an important lesson. The clues you’ll find aren’t often 1:1 or may even have red-herrings to misdirect you, such as the Assassin’s Creed Mirage A Challenge Enigma.
After all this trouble, you’re likely wondering what the light at the end of the tunnel is. Well, completing the Left Behind Enigma will reward you with the Horned Lion Talisman, a cosmetic item that hangs from your left shoulder. Sure, it’s not one of the best Assassin’s Creed Mirage weapons or a swanky new outfit, but it is a stylish lion evoking the legend of Rostam, a heroic figure in Persian mythology.
