The Assassin’s Creed Mirage A Challenge Enigma is one of the many tricky puzzles you can find in the game, sending you across 9th century Baghdad to find buried treasure. However, you’re only given a scrap of information to aid you. If you’re stuck, we don’t blame you; there is a dense city and vast, dangerous desert to explore, after all. Nevertheless, here is the AC Mirage A Challenge Enigma location and solution so you know how to solve the puzzle.
A Challenge is one of several Assassin’s Creed Mirage Enigmas that will put your wits and knowledge of the setting to the test, representing one of the most fun yet challenging aspects of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. This particular Enigma initially gave us a bit of a headache when we encountered it in-game, as the poem you’ve given is rather vague and even contains a few red-herrings. However, we’ve now cracked the code and are able to share the solution with you.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage A Challenge Enigma
The Assassin’s Creed Mirage A Challenge Enigma can be found inside a building on an island east of the Observatory point-of-interest in Abbasiyah, southeast of the House of Wisdom. Solving it will reward you with the Black Rostam outfit dye.
Check out the map below for an overview of the location so you can find it for yourself:
Once you head to the location marked on the map above, you’ll find a large building with a waterwheel on the side. However, it’s not as simple as walking inside. To access the building, you’ll first have to break the barricade holding the door shut.
While there are actually two ways to do this, we recommend heading to the barred window on the side of the building with the waterwheel. From here, you can look through the window and break the door barricade by throwing a Throwing Knife at it. You’re then free to enter the building.
Inside you’ll find the A Challenge Enigma location inside a square brick trough in the corner of the building. It’s not easy to spot if you’re on the move, but take a second to look closer and you should see the beam of white light peeking out over the low brick wall.
As for how we solved the A Challenge Enigma during our Assassin’s Creed Mirage review playthrough, we picked out key geographical landmarks that could help point us in the right direction.
The first clue we picked up on was the line about turning east from “where the learned observe”. This led us to think of the Observatory point-of-view in Abbasiyah, which, if you’ve explored the city, you’ll notice is close to where you start this Enigma.
From here, we then decided to locate an area that matched the description of an “isle where waters split”. Given we already had the clue pointing us east of the Observatory, we then noticed a small island in the city that splits a river.
That’s not the final clue though, as the poem also alludes to ‘wheels churning’. Head over to the island east of the Observatory that splits the river and you’ll notice two large waterwheels on the side of buildings. We then searched these buildings until we found the A Challenge Enigma reward.
Take another look at the poem from the Enigma below and you’ll see what we’re talking about:
For solving the A Challenge Enigma, you will receive the Black Rostam outfit dye for the Rostam outfit. This dye turns the outfit – you guessed it – black. However, it also adds some fancy tiger accents as well. Remember, outfit dyes only work on the specific outfit they are designed for, so you can’t add this look to any other outfit.
That’s all you need to know to locate and solve the Assassin’s Creed Mirage A Challenge Enigma, so get out there and explore Baghdad in all its glory. And on that note, find out where Mirage ranks in our list of the best Assassin’s Creed games, as each entry has a unique feel.
