Apex Legends leaks unearth footage of first single-player mission

New Apex Legends leaks regarding the Revenant rework have popped up online and show a full single-player mission is coming to the FPS on Xbox, PS5, and PC.

If you’re a fan of Apex Legends‘ Synthetic Nightmare Revenant, the future is looking quite bright. Sure, he isn’t sitting at the top of our Apex Legends tier list, but that could very-well be all about to change. The rumored Revenant rework is going to make him more ruthless than ever before and, now, new leaks are suggesting that Apex Legends’ Revenant Reborn update is going to introduce an entire single-player mission for players to check out. If you thought that was exciting, the entire single-player mission has been leaked online already. Those of you who like your lore just have to check this out.

Thought to be a playable teaser for Apex Legends’ next Stories From The Outlands short, known leaker ‘HYPERMYST‘ has shared footage from dataminer ‘AutismGaming420‘ showing over 10 minutes of a single-player mission with in-engine cutscenes and some rather intriguing platforming.

Primarily featuring Loba and Valkyrie, the single-player mission sees the thief navigate a strange seemingly-underground facility on Salvo – with a rather troubling discovery hiding in the heart of the laboratory.

This, of course, is all about Revenant. However, the real crux of this single-player teaser is that it sounds like Duardo Silva (the game’s main antagonist at the moment) is actually behind the creation of Revenant – or, at least, demonic robots like Revenant anyway. This could see the character that is the existing Revenant replaced by something even less human – and even more dangerous – going forwards. Sounds exciting, right?

While exciting, it’s worth remembering that this is just a leak. The final version of this could be quite different to the one we see, and we can imagine the visuals and animations will look a little crisper too. Whatever we end up with, this leak is certainly an exciting sign that more single-player content set in Apex Legends’ rich universe is coming. It might be a little sporadic at first, but it’s certainly better than nothing at all.

With Apex Legends’ Season 18 release date on the way, we can imagine this will be playable two or three weeks before the next major update. Respawn Entertainment usually releases a Stories From The Outlands trailer at least a week before the seasonal update is due – sometimes two – and we can imagine the developer would want players to have enough time to give this single-player mission teaser a try before releasing the animated short it’s supposedly leading into.

Is this going to be something that makes this the best competitive FPS game out there again? Not quite, even though the Revenant rework will help towards that. It’s not even really something that will affect whether it’s one of the best battle royale games available right now. What is will do, though, is offer Apex Legends players a chance to explore some new lore in a more active way. Reading comics, in-game text files, and watching animated shorts is fun, sure. This, though, is on another level and something we hope to see Respawn Entertainment continue on a regular basis.
