Apex Legends’ new healer needs a stim pistol like Ana from Overwatch 2

If you think Apex Legends needs a new healer, you're not alone - but is a Stim Pistol ability a good idea? Well, some battle royale fans seem to think so

Apex Legends new healer Stim Pistol: an image of Lifeline and DOC

Despite improvements to Lifeline’s kit and her competence as a healer in any Apex Legends squad, fans of this battle royale shooter have been calling on Respawn Entertainment to introduce another healing-based Support legend for some time now. In and amongst the discussions being had online, the idea that Apex Legends’ new healer needs a Stim Pistol ability like Ana from Overwatch 2 is growing in popularity – and we think it’s a good idea.

If there’s one thing keeping Lifeline from featuring at the top of our Apex Legends tier list, it’s that she can’t heal her squadmates at any sort of distance. When it comes to playing one of the best competitive FPS games like Apex Legends, flanking tactics and surrounding your enemies can be important to your success – and these are things that make Lifeline’s DOC Healing Drone tactical somewhat redundant.

So, in an effort to counter these impractical situations that leave Lifeline’s healing abilities a little useless, fans of this game believe that Respawn Entertainment should draw on another hero shooter when it comes to bolstering the medics in Apex Legends.

Commenting on a Reddit post opening a discussion on “another heal legend” from ‘SignificantPrompt153‘, several users proposed a Stim Pistol idea – something that would either launch a healing drone similar to Lifeline’s DOC Healing Drone tactical, or use a stored Syringe to offer that healing value to someone else from afar.

“Just have it shoot a stim glob using one [Syringe] from your inventory, and have it heal over time”, said one Apex Legends fan.

Another, though, has suggested that a “stim pistol would be cool, but only if it took the slot where you have [Heat Shield] domes or [Mobile Respawn Beacons”. This would, rather than require a new healing-based legend altogther, offer everyone on Apex Legends’ roster the opportunity to fill the role Lifeline occupies.

Outside of a Stim Pistol, someone has suggested that the next Support legend should have “splash healing from grenades” as a passive, or a tactical ability that “does something similar”. With legends like Ash, Fuse, and Caustic all making the most of Apex Legends’ throwable mechanics in their kits, we certainly don’t think this is an impossible idea.

Reddit user ‘RocketyPockety’ has suggested that Apex Legends needs a Support legend that fills the “aggressive healer” archetype. A character who’s healing abilities are improved upon – or charged faster – by dealing damage and pushing enemies is certainly something that would fit Apex Legends’ faster style of gameplay. We’re not sure this would quite fit the aforementioned Stim Pistol ability, though.

But, as always, this is all speculation. We know another Support legend is coming to Apex Legends eventually, but this is one of the best battle royale games out there for a reason and we just have to wait and see what Respawn Entertainment has planned for the future.
