Apex Legends heirlooms are the crème de la crème of in-game cosmetics. These shiny little melee weapons are specific to each legend and are typically purchased through Apex Legends shards – a form of in-game currency that is particularly difficult to earn.

But Heirlooms aren’t just rare intimate objects to whack over the heads of your enemies, they help you stand out from the rest of the legends in the arena. That’s because Apex Legends Heirlooms also give your characters neat little quips as well as banner poses and, of course, an incredible-looking skin.

So what are Apex Legends Heirlooms and how do you get them? Here’s everything you need to know about these stylish cosmetics, including what the chances are of picking up Apex Legends Heirloom Shards, how to get Heirlooms, and much more.

What are Apex Legends Heirlooms?

Apex Legends Heirlooms are super rare, Mythic-tier melee cosmetic skins. While they don’t give your chosen champion an in-game advantage, they do add a little bit of flair to your Apex Legends ranked wins. However, not every Apex Legend character has an Heirloom set.

Apex Legends Heirlooms are added with Collection Events, typically at a rate of one new set per Season. This means that not every legend has an Heirloom set yet, and the ones that do, only have one.

These sets, if you’re lucky enough to nab one for the grand old price of 150 shards, contain a rare weapon skin (which you can see below), a character quip, and a banner pose or emote to spice up the respective character.

How do you get Apex Legends Heirlooms?

The best way of unlocking Apex Legends Heirlooms is by earning Heirloom Shards. Unfortunately, this type of currency is pretty rare to get your hands on.

That’s because the only way to get hold of these shards is by opening Apex Packs – but there’s less than a 1% chance you’ll find some. These shards drop in amounts of 50, meaning if you’ve kissed a four-leaf clover and found the end of a rainbow, you can pick up 150 shards (the full price of a Heirloom) in one pack. As you might have guessed from our sarcasm though, that’s not likely to happen.

Players are guaranteed 150 Apex Legends Heirloom Shards at least once in every 500 Apex Packs, though, so there’s hope if you’re willing to grind your heart out or part with your hard-earned cash.

You can also technically earn Heirloom Shards through Collection Events. Players will be given a Heirloom set for obtaining all 24 cosmetics during an event – but this can cost you a pretty penny.

So there you have it, you need to know about Apex Legends Heirlooms so you know how to get your hands on a set for your favorite character. Good luck out there and be sure to take a look at our Apex Legends tier list to find out who you should main right now.
