Is Vigor crossplay? If you’ve been swept away by Bohemia Interactive’s free-to-play shooter that’s like a cross between DayZ and Escape From Tarkov, this might well be the question on your lips. Fortunately for you, we’ve got all the answers right here.
Vigor is one of the best free PS5 games on the market right now and for good reason – the looter shooter genre is exploding right now and the game has one of the biggest first-person developers behind it. While Vigor hasn’t quite taken off in the same way as some of the best battle royales, it still boasts a healthy player base on its core platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
But can you play Vigor with friends on different platforms? Technically yes, but as with pretty much all online multiplayer games these days, there are some limitations. Here’s everything you need to know about Vigor crossplay, including the platforms that can play together, whether you can turn it off, and more.
Vigor does have crossplay enabled, but only between select platforms. At the moment crossplay is only available between Xbox and Nintendo Switch players. This is in place to “shorten” matchmaking times, according to Bohemia, but it will prioritise your own platform over another.
The crossplay matchmaking system will also identify whether Switch players are playing in docked or handheld mode and alter the matchmaking settings as such.
PlayStation players have their own matchmaking group and will not be able to play with those on Xbox or Nintendo Switch. Therefore, only PS4 and PS5 players will be able to play together.
Can you disable Vigor crossplay?
No, you cannot disable crossplay in Vigor. As mentioned above, the matchmaking search will prioritise your platform above others, but the search might be expanded to other platforms if a full lobby isn’t found.
That’s everything you need to know about Vigor crossplay, so get out there and explore the Outlands.
