The first occurs early on in Road to the Show, when your minor league manager will ask you in the locker room if you’d like to try a different position for a little while to see how you like it. Take their offer, tell them you like the new position, and you’ll be able to switch permanently.
The second way is to tell your agent your current playing position isn’t working out for you. The agent will contact you periodically (usually around once a year) to see how things are going, and this is your chance to discuss moving to a new position. This isn’t fool proof, though, and it depends on the state of the team, where you want to move to, and your current stats as to whether management will let you swap.
The last way is to create a new character entirely. This might also be the best way to change position in MLB The Show 22.
