When big machines like Stormbirds, Fireclaws, and Shellwalkers are constantly throwing themselves at you, you’re going to need to know how to dodge in Horizon Call of the Mountain. After all, you will be attacked by all kinds of machines on your climb.
While you’ve got a bow and arrow to defend yourself with, dodging is the only thing that’s stopping you from becoming a machine’s next meal. Knowing how to dodge is one thing, but knowing how to do it effectively while still getting shots off in Horizon Call of the Mountain is another. So, let us walk you through dodging in what is arguably one of the best PSVR2 games yet.
How to dodge in Horizon Call of the Mountain
In Horizon Call of the Mountain, you can dodge by pressing Square and X together and then moving your hands sideways in the direction you want to move. This will allow you to strafe incoming attacks, which is especially important in big boss fights.
While it might be tempting to just dodge once and get a shot off, it is advisable to dodge a few times in one direction, giving you enough space between your enemy, you, and your bow. By dodging, for example, four times to your left, you have enough time to get behind a machine, find its weak spots, and get a few shots away in time before having to dodge again.
You can also dodge behind hard cover in boss fights, but be aware that some incoming attacks will either move that hard cover or destroy it altogether – so always think of your next move.
So there you have it, everything you need to know about how to dodge in Horizon Call of the Mountain. It takes a little while to get used to – something we found out in our PSVR2 review – but by the second half of the game, you’ll be dodging, diving, and ducking like a pro, especially with our other tips in our Horizon Call of the Mountain walkthrough article.
