Hogwarts Legacy could be one of the biggest Wizarding World adventures yet. One iconic piece of lore, the Patronus charm, is vital to stopping Dementors but it appears that it won’t be making an appearance in Hogwarts Legacy.

Accompanied by a free iOS and Android app, users can get sorted in their Hogwarts Legacy Houses before setting foot inside the Great Hall. You’ll even get to customise your wand to an extent too. However, players looking to transfer over their chosen Patronus charm may be in for a shock.

Redditor ‘kamikazee786’ says that “as I expected, [your] Patronus will not be imported into the game.” The Patronus charm is comprised of a unique animal or beast, that wards away deadly foes in a dire time of need. With an immense amount of charms to choose from, fellow Redditor ‘xXEolNenmacilXx‘ explains “there are 142 options on Pottermore for your Patronus, they were never going to add that many uniquely animated animals.”
Though developer Avalanche Studios is yet to confirm whether a singular version of the Patronus spell will appear in-game, many Potterheads have been quick to point out whether it makes sense to include it.
“No reason to even have the Patronus spell in the game. Dementors aren’t exactly just roaming around the Hogwarts area,” says ‘lancer7917’. Another fan expresses that it doesn’t “seem like a good idea to have a spell that is only useful in very specific situations and has no effect on 99% of the enemies.” Dementors are known to guard Azkaban, many of them later defect to aid Lord Voldermort in the Second Wizarding War.
It is unlikely that Dementors will be in Hogwarts Legacy, but there could be a legion of surprises to uncover upon release.
